TruTrak certified autopilot installed for $6500

Looking for opinions about truetrak for my 172. They say that there is an ANP on the field there (Arkansas) who will install the units for $1500 flat rate - which means that baby gets an auto pilot for $6500. Seems cheap. Anybody have thoughts about them or other options...

What's It really Like To Be A CFI?

You're going to keep flying anyway - you'll have the hours, why not study some and get the cert? There's only upside after you have your ticket - including increased pay for some commercial gigs, delivery flights, the ability to instruct which will pay you *and* open doors, and logging PIC time...

    North Texas 414 PPI Guru?

...sigh. I've got the time. But don't spend enough time there to warrant getting in the club. I live in Maine, and keep my C172 flying most of the time with students. My company's in Canton, which brings me to Tejas sometimes.

Wanted: twin time in the northeast this fall.

If anybody's interested in sharing twin time this fall in the northeast, I'd love to talk. I have 550 TT, with 9 multi. I'm a single engine land/sea CFI, commercial multi/instrument rated and current. I need 13 more multi PIC hours to go for my multi-instructor ticket. My life is pretty...

    North Texas 414 PPI Guru?

@AggieMike88 Is apparently also well-known and well liked. :) My folks live in Hickory Creek, and I sometimes land on the little strip near the lake. Been meaning to get up to your hood for a while - looks like a good little flying club you got going.

Where to find a CFI to move plane to Alaska?

@alaskan9974 - I second the idea that your cheapest option is finding someone who lives in either the departure or destination city. But if you're willing to fly me out and back from Maine - plus a decent per diem, I'm in.

    New England Vacation Ideas

@bgdriveway , lemme know if you come up to Maine. I'm based at Wiscasset, KIWI. Also the Bar Harbor airport has a loaner car that you can have for two hours, without having to rent for the whole day. So if you just wanted to go into town, that's a really easy option for lunch. If you come this...

    Take off engine-out options diagram

Very cool. Thanks. Looks like on an E/NE departure, you might want to climb at Vx until pattern altitude - to give you more options if the spinny thing stops.

    ADS-B in: Garmin vs Stratus?

Hi gang, I'm debating between a G345 ADS-B in setup and a Stratus. I've got a GNS430W already. Am I really going to want the more expensive Garmin receiver solution for weather and targets on the tiny 430 display? Or since I almost always fly with the iPad, will it be enough to see the...

ANOTHER..... "Want to buy a plane thread"

Keeper, the subtext here that you're getting from everybody is concern. Low time pilot (below 500) in a situation where he *has* to go somewhere for work in a new to him (less than 200 hrs) fast plane - those are all factors that we've read repeatedly in NTSB reports over the years. I'm 430...

Strong Gusty Headwind + Me = Too Much Float - HOW TO IMPROVE?

This thread is another reason why I love randomly browsing PoA. I've been asked to be a CFI for a club this summer - they've just purchased a 172 with the 180HP conversion. Super helpful info here, thanks.
