How can I record Cockpit Video & Audio with iPhone

I connect an external wired microphone to my Drift camera and put it my earcup. ATC audio was excellent, I need to speak up a little, but it's still understandable. Here is an example: Of course the real expert on in-cockpit audio/video recording around here is Mr. Aviation 101.

    Fatal ICON A5 crash

I have no problem with reasoned speculation. We all do it when we read of an accident, don't we? As long as the speculation is not an emotional tirade against the accident pilots I'm fine with speculation among pilots. With respect to Icon, I know nothing about this accident, but I've not...

Is there any profit in refurbishing aircraft?

In this week's Aviation Week there is an article in which Rockwell-Collins says the cost of certifying avionics has exceeded the cost of developing and manufacturing avionics.

New Flight Design low wing LSA announced

It bears a remarkable resemblance to the spinnaker on a sailboat. I'm sure that's a lot of fun on a gusty windy spring day. I hope it has some kind of break-away system because no way is that canopy going to last the life of the airplane.

ADSB out creating more risk until 2020

Thanks, that explains what happened. Your ADS-B in could see him, but since you were out of tower range and didn't have ads-b out the other pilot could not see you on his ADS-B display. That's by design, and why ADS-B makes no sense without the mandate.

What makes a pilot do this?

I'm sure that pilot checked for wires before he flew down that river.

ADSB out creating more risk until 2020

What I'm reading is this: "The other pilot had ADSB out and I do not." If you don't know the other pilot, and you don't have ads-b, then how do you know what equipment the other pilot had? Also, if you want audible warnings with bearing, altitude, and distance the Garmin 345 transponder with...

Solo flight - Anxiety (I'm not a student, tho maybe I should be)

"I kinda want to just call one of my CFI buddies and go do some steep turns and some power-off landings knowing that I'll ace them." Your initial experience has 'faded' for those maneuvers, now you're on a learning plateau trying to regain those particular skills. Don't stress about it...

    Renter's Insurance / Insight / Opinion / Rants / Recomendations?

We have 28 owner-members and three airplanes, so they don't look at individual experience. They do have some experience requirements to fly our 177RG. AOPA is a million smooth for non-involved people. Passengers are still limited to $100K.

    Renter's Insurance / Insight / Opinion / Rants / Recomendations?

My ownership club is very similar, but I still took out an AOPA non-owner liability policy because AOPA (unlike Avemco) covers a full million dollars of liability protection for any non-involved person injured in an accident.

I bet the reason the wheel pants are not currently installed is because they are cracked or otherwise damaged.

    Advancing the throttle on shutdown

What do the people who make the engines and the manufactures who publish checklists know? Just follow what some random dude told you, because random dude (CFI or otherwise) clearly knows more!

    What should I do? (Re-currency)

I've always wondered about these Cessna tailwheel conversations. Do they do anything to make the rudder more powerful? I recall a few years ago a local flight school put a C-150 tailwheel conversation on line. I sat it in, and as far as I could tell the rudder was no difference than...
