Does this dent in my wing need to be repaired?

I'd be talking to my insurance company. That looks fugly, rib or not if you didn't put it there at least explore your options.

    Induction leak

Keep in mind I'm an owner, not a mechanic. I'm a proponent of leaning to keep the lead out. If you join the C150/152 type club you'll get an ear full from the pilots and mechanics over there @Robin Hood. I've owned a 150 and now a 172 that uses the same cylinders as is on your plane, just has...

    Induction leak

@Robin Hood - C150's with the O200 are notorious for stuck valves because many owners are unfamiliar with the mixture knob. Do you lean religiously?

Would having mental health history cause any problems in being a pilot?

I am not a doctor, just have a little experience as a user of the system. What the hospital used for your medical diagnosis codes will matter more than your protestations to the contrary. I made a doctor's office change a code once because that matters on your aviation medical. See posts 15 &...

    Towbar Prop Strike

Is it reasonable to assume the OP's insurance premium will go up and if so, significantly?

    Fixing wing tip installation

Do they look worse or better than this? When the tips were affixed there were (and are) some gaps between each screw. They also don't perfectly conform to the LE of my wing as you see. And this was the second set of tips we tried after returning the first set. Those were truly bad. I guess...

    uAvionix receives STC for tailBeacon

Amazing how many businesses in aviation skipped that introductory course.

    Super Viking

As a lowly 172 owner I feel the BSV's owners pain. If I listened to all the naysayers, I'd have to remove a couple hundred hours of awesome cross country time from my log book ;).

    Choosing Interior Colors

Ahh, that brings back memories. It was a lot of work, which made it worth it and gratifying to both of us. Just yesterday my buddy was showing off 'his interior' to his GF as she rode with me for the 1st time! :D

    Choosing Interior Colors

Yes. I sent the seat frames completely disassembled to him for paint and upholstery. Found the headrests in a auto junkyard - stripped and sent to him. Then had him do my armrests. But there was so much more to that redo. It's something my buddy & I look back on and enjoy rehashing because...

    Choosing Interior Colors

Once you get into it - you'll find a bunch of 'while I'm in here' type things. Corrosion that needs fixed, firewall blanket painted to match, deteriorated external speaker, etc.

    Choosing Interior Colors

You're exactly right on the second shop, they were scared when I said 'airplane'. The first shop seemed clueless - they did armrests for me and were expensive and crap. Dodd @ Airtex did an amazing job on my armrests in my 172 compared to the originals.

    Choosing Interior Colors

Please do, we at POA love to spend other people's money and LOVE pics of same. We haven't had a good renovation thread on here in a while. I wish I had documented my interior renovation - it was epic.

    Choosing Interior Colors

I'm a little confused - are you guys saying these local hot-rod upholstery shops are going to be cheaper or better? My experience with 2 local shops that said they did upholstery were neither. Admittedly I looked them up online or via yellow pages, but I didn't have anyone to recommend a shop...

    Choosing Interior Colors

Very light Airtex interior. 8 Years later it's starting to show the dirt especially on the pilot's side door but has otherwise held up well. I am admittedly tough on an interior.

Find A Pilot / Aircraft Owner

The way OP's message reads he intends to stop shipment Monday. He just wants a phone number to vent/threaten. Can't blame him but these days you have no idea who you may be dealing with as money mules are commonplace. Not necessarily related but thieves and mules are out there en mass and can...

Using descriptors instead of N number

That may be true, but think about what I/you now know: this plane is coming in on the opposite side of the runway, it's a twin so it's physical shape, speed, and the pattern it flies are quite different than mine. So I can adjust knowing the twin will likely get there before me to better fit...

    Replacement Knobs - 1967 Cessna 150G

I have same question for my 172G knobs, anyone have a site? Knobs are rather grimy after 52 years of use. Some quick duckduck searching didn't turn up anything.
