takeoff roll hesitation at 2000 rpm

Somewhere this should be a sticky for O-200 owners - probably on the type club if it's not already. I've experienced the infamous engine stumble, once it was immediately following maintenance. Another time the power rolled back briefly turning base to downwind, the mechanic who'd just signed it...

XC Airplane for 2 + kid?

With all the accoutrements that bringing a baby along entails, I like the 180 hp Cardinal as an option. In my recent experience shopping with a friend however, a FG Cardinal is going to be pretty banged up below about 90-100k. 120k gets you a RG 'forever' Cardinal. A hangar mate just bought a...

    Brought down by carb ice?

Years ago in my Continental O300 172 I was doing my flight review. During my runup prior to departure I pulled CH on and then pushed in back in right away. The CFI admonished me to reapply CH saying "leave it on for a minute, we want to give any ice a chance to melt". We discussed my concerns...

    General Question Help..

Could someone realistically be a commercial pilot and expect to throw meat bombs on the regular w/o an instrument ticket? They go a lot higher than me schlepping along at 3500 MSL and need to be able to circle up through cloud don't they?

I’m starting my flight training but I’m scared of dying.

Similarly, I give the game of golf a lot of credit for the direction my life took - it's why I learned to fly instead.

    Flying for Football

Fortunately I made a pit stop before leaving the stadium as you're right, it's a 1.8 mile walk thru campus. It was also pretty chilly that day so I welcomed the physical activity. I enjoy seeing other college campuses, especially ones as nice as Purdue. I'd like to do an Indiana game next...

    Flying for Football

I started noticing that some of the smaller schools' stadiums have lots of open seats. Hmmm says I. So one morning a couple years ago a friend & I flew to Lafayette for a Buckeyes/Boilermakers game. We got a ride from the FBO and dropped off in front of the stadium (which earned the student a...

    Aviation Gin

I have an (empty) bottle of Aviation Gin on a shelf in my hangar because the bottle looks cool and it says "Aviation" on it. I haven't the faintest idea how the bottle got that way though. As for the Xmas tree taste, I love it - Tanqueray for instance. If you do too, I strongly recommend...

Commanche down in San Antonio, Dec 1, 2019

Very different outcomes between two recent crashes, this one and the Seneca. If you haven't seen the vid of the Seneca that lands on the street and both occupants survive check it out in the thread below. The last seconds are in stark contrast to the Comanche's and a solemn reminder to keep...

    Small plane crash lands KDVT

In the surveillance video, the right wings strikes a car or other object and there's a cloud of what looks like fuel spray, kind of hard to tell here. Anyone else see this?

    PIREP on Bogert Aviation

O-300s - Love em? Hate em? Typical maintenance costs and overhaul cost

I've flown behind mine for around 14 years now and lean rigorously. I've had zero issues with carb ice or sticking valves. Mine consumes oil, more as of late, we haven't figured out exactly where yet. The old pushrods with the swedged ends and no springs are notorious for leaking, so if I...

    Garmin GDL 82 advice needed

LOL, yep. I have a few friends that have done same. Not all Garmin products required a dealer install. I have heard of the older ELTs causing some issues if mounted to close to one of those.
