It it time to get dressed?

Seems to me you have a history of always posting negative comments to anything I post. No matter, I'll keep posting and you can keep finding fault. Let's see who helps other pilots the most, OK? When I find an AP that is worth the money he charges, I'll let you know. So far, they all have...

It it time to get dressed?

When was the last time you dressed your prop? Your AP/IA is supposed to do it on every annual. None of mine ever has.... what about yours? Be that as it may, I do my own. According to the POH for my Cessna 150 "small nicks in the leading edge of the propeller can cause stress cracks and...

    FBO woes

Problem solved, at least for the pit stop issue. I bought Lyndbergh Jug

    Band-Aid for hangar rash

Seems some are having trouble grasping what I was at so maybe this picture will help. When I pull out of my hanger, on the right, I need to navigate between the red steel doors of all the other spaces and keep away from the building on the left. There is also a drive on the left and...

    V is for VOR

The loop was not the issue. There was no strain relief. It is all hanging on the braid and there is weight of some kind on that cable constantly pulling it down. Every time you land, it bounces up and down and breaks off a few more strands of wire. Just a matter of time and then you lose your...

Would you like that fitered or un-filtered?

And that's what I mean about not having control over the source. There can be water in that truck, in the stationary tank, in the underground piping to the fuel pump, in the rubber hose that you run to your plane. If water in the fuel was not an issue why would we need to be using Gats Jars...

Would you like that fitered or un-filtered?

If you keep the tanks relatively full that will help prevent gathering moisture. Luckily, we are not using ethanol blended fuel which will pull moisture in like crazy. Making sure the rubber cap seals are good, paying through the nose for a hangar, living in a dry climate... all go a long way...

Bush Pilot: Reflections on a Canadian Myth

Wonderfully made film made about Canadian bush pilots. Enjoy

Yous pays your money, yous takes your chances

Like my AP friend suggested as the reason for no AD as yet. No one has died.

    Band-Aid for hangar rash

Actually, the line read like this: There is not a much space between the doors on my hangar building and the wings of my plane when taxiing in and out. There is another unrelated building on the opposite side, as well. I do not taxi in and out of my hangar, I taxi past the hangar building and...

Would you like that fitered or un-filtered?

So many questions..... so little time..... The sample in my photo was taken the day of delivery. The ferry pilot was the son of the AI that did the annual. The plane had sat for some 2 years outside on the ramp prior to my purchase although the fellow who "flipped it" was flying it to some...

    FBO woes

Last week I went to pick up someone at another airport in my home state for a short cross country out of state. Landed and went into the FBO, they call it the Jet Center there, to get my friend and use the bathroom. In jest, I ask the gal at the counter of there was a landing fee for my little...

Would you like that fitered or un-filtered?

The day my Cessna 150 was delivered (ferried) to my airport where I was to take my training, I decided to take fuel samples of the wings, the gascolator and the sump drain port. This is what came out of the sump drain. This, after I paid a handsome some for an annual. This caused me to get...

Shameless plug for Arizona ice Tea

I like my way better. I can leave the container sitting there as all the oil drips out, then go back and retrieve it. In the mean time I've added my 4+ quarts : )

    Band-Aid for hangar rash

My understanding is, regarding attaching cameras and tablets to the plane... if you can remove it without using tools... just with your hands.... it is legal. That's why you will see GoPro's attached with things like hose clamps that have large plastic wing nuts, rather than the standard metal...

    Band-Aid for hangar rash

There is not a much space between the doors on my hangar building and the wings of my plane when taxiing in and out. There is another unrelated building on the opposite side, as well. You have to keep your head out of your butt when moving. As it so happens, one day my head got stuck and I...

Shameless plug for Arizona ice Tea

Needed to change my oil and filter today on my Cessna 150M. A messy job made easier thanks to a gallon size empty Arizona ice tea container. Cut the bottom off save for the last 1.5" or so at the front. This gave me a way to fit the container around the Champion filter but still keep the oil...

    Cross Country Lap Box

I cannot grasp how anyone can think of this being something nostalgic or from the 1980's. If students today are not being trained how to use the sectional, do pilotage and dead reckoning to get their certificate... private, sport or recreational... CFI's are doing them a grave disservice, IMHO...
