Do you correct a tower controller ?

I've occasionally had the tower at home airport give me wrong instructions for the situation. But I fly so often that I know what they really want me to do, so on read back I have on occasion just read back what they really wanted to tell me. Usually they just say thanks or chuckle. Saying that...

    Flying without insurance

Lot of planes in western states owned by farmers and ranchers. Think most of them figure if they wreck it checking cattle, fences or fields the loss would be about like a major tractor breakdown.

    Flying without insurance

I've always heard if the truth came out about half the planes aren't insured

    A non-pilot asks.....

While true that we have to put it down every time we file a flight plan that differs bunch also. I made couple 650nm trips last week. One way I flew higher and filed 210kts. Other way I flew lower and filed 180kts. Even that was guess. The one I filed 210kts ended up taking 2hrs 53 min. So...

    Flying without insurance

It seems to me like liability ins of some kind is good. Don't know if they offer it, but a blanket policy seems like a good option. I have one plane I maybe only flew 30 hrs last year. Ins is 2200 on it. It is 6 place which raises it pretty good seems like. May fly it more this year but haven't...

    Flying without insurance

I think liability is pretty much a given. For me at least. But hull ins seems little questionable. Like my house insurance. Have claimed once in my life for about 1500$. Have paid in probably 150,000. Granted I can't replace for 150,000

    A non-pilot asks.....

People ask me this quite often. I also usually just tell them how many hours to get somewhere as I figure they really don't want me to explain all the variables about wind and such. Kinda like the correct answer to the question " how are you today" is fine

what would make a good plane for x-country flying

Think my insurance was around 2000. Commanche is much more plane than arrow but they haven't made a commanche since 1972. Bigger engine, bigger plane. 30 kts faster maybe. I like the emergency gear extension better on the arrow, but that's about the only plus to me. I also owned a 172 as a...

what would make a good plane for x-country flying

I bought a commanche while a student and insurance wasn't stupid expensive. Few parts for gear were almost unobtanium though.

    Flying without insurance

I was thinking about the hard to insure planes that don't have a huge value, but the insurance company really doesn't want to insure or gives exorbitant rate quotes.

    Flying without insurance

Just wondering if many people on here fly without insurance of any kind? I've always heard that more people don't have insurance than would be believed. If you don't have insurance how do you justify the risk? I'm pretty sure that all people who have loans on planes probably have insurance.

    David Clarks?

I typically wear headsets 3 or 4 hours or more without taking off and then maybe another several hours. I have a larger head 7 3/4 and they are very tight on me and hurt my head after a short time. The dc,s are very well built though and last a very long however. I've been having trouble with my...

Anybody ever make money with a lease back??

There are lot doing leasebacks but if you keep track you will notice that they have lot of turnover with unhappy owners. Hence why they are always trying to get people in the leaseback game.

Anybody ever make money with a lease back??

Just looking over the books of owning several planes being rented I can't see how there can be any money made. One big repair like engine would put you in the red for several years. Just doing all the stuff for 100 hr inspections and replacing the constant square tires would eat any profit fast...

student pilot flying without a cfi....

I say go for it. I flew 3 differnt 172,s in the last 2 days and flew them all from the right seat even when I was by myself. I just prefer to fly from that side.

    Corrosion and Airplanes

I am in plant city area and I have bought several planes in Florida. Most are perfectly fine but I did buy an172n year ago or so for parts that had been outside at Naples airport. It was terrible. I didn't even want the wings as there was nothing salvageable in them other than maybe the navi...
