    IFR/IMC Flying Video

Thanks. I don't use the "position checks" normally but this CFI was trained that way and wants me to so i use it with him. Guess some pilots and some don't even when it's not required.

    IFR/IMC Flying Video

Yesterday was a perfect IFR/IMC flying day so took advantage. LIFR or slightly above for both takeoffs & landings and entire flight at altitude was IMC. No freezing temps to worry about. Challenging but very rewarding...

AME contacted the FAA to "warn" them about me!

I took a closer look at the letter the AME wrote and found 2 instances where he altered the truth so I've decided to try to contact the local RFS as I did find information on the FAA AME section of the website that talked about the penalties for both airmen AND AMEs for knowingly submitting...

AME contacted the FAA to "warn" them about me!

Well I decided to edit my posts to remove the AME's name. Sorry James but taking the safe path. I got enough going on in my life that I don't need to worry about a bonehead AME. PS - Please edit any post you may have quoted me on that included the name of the AME. Thanks!

AME contacted the FAA to "warn" them about me!

You're right new AME believes my old AME was wrong and went way out of his way to make renewal difficult but also said I'd be wasting my time trying to complain about to the FAA.

AME contacted the FAA to "warn" them about me!

If by that you mean that he didn't believe me when I said I've had no need for further treatment or medication since that one incident in 2014 then yes but then again that means this AME assumed I'm lying in my medexpress app and on the phone and also ignores my medical record/history. I want to...

AME contacted the FAA to "warn" them about me!

Hope posting his name doesn't somehow come back to bite me so I'll say this.... This is merely my own experience and opinion. The AME is out of Milwaukee, WI. As background I'm 48 and very healthy. No medical issues, surgeries, problems and my medical history and annual physicals show this. I...

AME contacted the FAA to "warn" them about me!

Not looking at doing anything like suing but wondered if there was a formal way to submit a complaint about what this AME did. It sure was a learning experience for me about how important it is to pick a good AME. Still when I saw a copy of the letter he wrote to the FAA I was fuming. Doesn't...

AME contacted the FAA to "warn" them about me!

2 years ago when I went to renew my 3rd class I used an AME and told him that I got bronchitis as a result of a virus infection and as part of the temporary treatment I was given abuterol to use if needed. No big deal and went back to MD 1 month later and all clear of the mild asthma so in...

FS: Zaon MRX Portable Collision Avoidance unit

Now that I have ADSB in/out I no longer need my Zaon MRX PCAS unit. It's in great (like new) physical and operating shape. It was the latest version of the MRX (v2.9) before Zaon shut down. The great thing about this unit (and is why I bought it in the first place) was that it's so small and...

    Garmin Pilot Update - WOW!

Not exactly. GP profile view does a lot more than only terrain/altitude like FF and the minimums and IFR alternate features are also unique. The 2 things I still prefer in FF are the ifr approach charts on the moving map & the weather imagery & graphical brief. Plus a biggie for me is that GP...

    Garmin Pilot Update - WOW!

Great stuff. Now all I want is for Garmin to add IFR approach chart on the map page and to be able to "load" all the approach waypoints to the flight plan when selecting the approach.

    Garmin Pilot Update - WOW!

Garmin Pilot has rolled out some great new features in the last couple of months and especially yesterday. Really glad to see Garmin stepping up their game. Their recent Flight Profile feature is just awesome and their flight planning feature that alerts you during flight plan creating if...

    Insane RC helo pilot

Yup real. It's called 3D flying and has been around for quite a while. It not the gyro that progressed the ability to fly this way it's the flybarless rotor systems, high speed brushless motors and newer lypo batteries that has allowed this type of flying. The words/images on the one w/ lighted...

    Radio Noise with LED Lights

Yes that was checked but we don't think is the wiring as we ran wiring from the LED directly to the battery to test and same results.

    Radio Noise with LED Lights

Discovered something yesterday. It seems the radio interference is coming directly through the com antennae and not the aircraft wiring. When we move the light closer to the radio antenna we would hear the clicking noise and actually the closer the led gets to the antenna we even start hearing a...

    Radio Noise with LED Lights

Well the replacement LED beacons are doing the same so it's not the beacon. It appears to be location driven as if we move the beacon away from the top of the rudder the noise goes away. Not sure where to go with this now other than trying a different brand of LED light.

    Radio Noise with LED Lights

Mine is very close to the VOR antennas but I've only noticed interference on Com radios. Com 2 louder than Com 1. Got a new light to test.

    Radio Noise with LED Lights

Tried the ferrite choke and actually made it worse. Even ran new shielded wiring form the led light directly to the battery bypassing existing plane wiring & light swtich and clicking noise still there. Physically moving the LED light even an inch would make the sound go away and come back so...
