    Final FAA Hangar Rules

State-wide no, but certain (not all) counties do impose a yearly tax on based aircraft.

I meant if I had to pay the one time MD sales tax it would be the same as the one time VA sales tax.

    Looking to Buy (Again)...Recommendations?

Oh, I'm subscribed to the digest version and get 1-4 emails per day. Problem is the searching. I only signed up semi-recently and the list archive that is searchable on the web hasn't been updated/indexed since April I have them going to my old (ahem) yahoo account so I can't gmail search...

And even if not, same rate I would pay in VA

What is personal property tax rate for aircraft in the Potomac section of Prince George's? A quick Google search didn't turn up anything. Hopefully its not the same rate charged for autos.

    Looking to Buy (Again)...Recommendations?

I am . For the past few months I've been semi-actively looking (aka beg the wife for permission when a good one comes up) all I have seen is the $85k one still listed on Controller and the one in SC that has been well cared for but needs everything but paint soon (interior, engine, avionics)...

    Sold Cessna Cardinal 177B

Beautiful 177B! The Cardinal I few in my old club was mechanically sound but light years away from yours cosmetically. I'd feel guilty owning it before I was able to get a hangar.

    Looking to Buy (Again)...Recommendations?

Please put me on your list of POA-ers who you contact if/when you decide to sell ;) Seems to be very little out there in the well cared for and updated Tiger category.

    Looking to Buy (Again)...Recommendations?

Stop that! We can't all be looking for a Tiger at once. And Aviation Consumer needs to stop publishing pro Tiger articles every other month until after I find one....

    Final FAA Hangar Rules

Thats Potomac right? I'm on the 2-year wait list at Manassas but I figure if I want to pay up, I could grab the next one at Potomac and pay that rate until Manassas opens up. Of course step 1 is actually buying the airplane. Bit of a chicken and the egg situation when airplanes shouldn't be...

    Spacial Cognitive De-Skilling

We moved about 2 years ago to the area my wife grew up in. Before we moved, I always had her tell me where to go when visiting and I never built a good mental map of the area. When it was clear we would be moving here, I starting looking at Google Maps to figure out where things actually were...

Pretty sure you send an email to a specific address. But I've been read only thus far.

ZDC ARTCC evacuated due to fire

IAD is a mess just left after our crew timed out and flight was cancelled. A few flights are taking off. Our captain said ops initially wanted our gate so some of the large international flights could deplane but then said the airport was going to go get them with the mobile lounges like in...

    New Pilot in Northern VA

I was speaking specifically about availability at Aviation Adventures. The SFRA checkout to which I refer is to meet the rental requirements for AvAd. Being a rusty pilot I didn't knock out everything for their checkout in the first hour I went up.

    New Pilot in Northern VA

How far out are you having to schedule? I've been trying to get an hour with any cfi at KHEF AvAd to finish my Sfra checkout for a few weeks and so far no luck. No way I can even consider starting on an IR with them with their current lack of instructors.

I can see why some potential students give up flying.

To further my last post, how long ago were you in DC and do you know if any of the instructors you knew are still at it? It would be fantastic to find someone with their own plane or who will instruct in an owners plane for when I buy one and want to get my IR, FRs, etc.

I can see why some potential students give up flying.

I'm running into a new problem...instructor availability. I'm trying to get checked out in more locations/airplanes by the flight school I am renting from and there just aren't enough instructors. Forget about weekends. Even during the week is difficult. No way I'll be able to train for an IR...

What model type of the Cessna 182 do you consider the "Sweet Spot" to purchase.

FP, looks like we are in very similar positions - just under 100 hours looking for our first plane. For 182s I've settled on the P/Qs. But still debating between 182 or Grumman Tiger. Or an older Bonanza. Or.... To bad you don't live nearby or we could partner up.

    Another 'What Airplane for Me?"

So 182 experts: Is $60k actually a reasonable price for a mid-time engine, 430w'd, decent paint/interior and all of the listings are just super high? I know listing prices are not sales prices, but I would have guessed I was looking for a $90k-$110k 182, not a $60k-$80k 182. Also, I think...
