    New Airline

From what I've read, all positions will be part time, but some positions don't require the concurrent enrollment in college:

    New Airline

True. I don't know if Breeze really just wants young people as FAs as the AFA claims, or this is smart way to attract more applicants by offering a unique benefit. Either way it will be interesting to watch.

    New Airline

Breeze is taking an interesting approach in their flight attendant hiring. All their flight attendants will be part time, while also attending Utah Valley University online (I think with tuition paid by the company?) so it's assumed most will move on to other careers after earning their degree...

    Rant-People on vacation

In the ski towns, the only people the locals* hate more than out of state tourists are in-state people (especially from Denver). Cars with Texas plates are often ridiculed online for bad driving or parking. * "Local" means someone who just moved to the town to be a ski bum and work at a resort...

    Let’s talk stocks

Haha, no one ever loses at the casino, yet they can't stop building billion dollar hotel casinos in Vegas. The same with car dealers, everyone walks out thinking they got a steal on their new car, yet one dealership owner in Denver just put his $26M estate on the market. I guess some people...

    University of Oklahoma Aviation?

I see this advice a lot, and I agree that an aviation degree won't help much if/when you get furloughed from a flying job, but from my experience none of the engineering companies I've worked for are going to rush to hire someone with engineering degree if they haven't used it in the 10 years...

    Jessica Dubroff Retrospective

It wasn't in the article, but I thought Jessica was in the backseat for one of the legs from California to Wyoming? It was more about the publicity for the parents I think -- very sad.

    Murphy Yukon

I had to look them up too, interesting line-up of planes. It looks like there is another company that handles Murphy's kit sales and parts, you might try them: https://www.pattersonaerosales.com/ Looks like they aren't selling any kits until mid 2021 though.

Zero carbon emissions for major airline -- Do you think this is achievable? If so, how?

It already here in Colorado -- EV and Plug-in Hybrids pay $50/year extra fee for car registration. I have a Plug-in Hybrid and even though I still buy gas and pay the gas taxes (admittedly not a lot), they still hit me with the $50.

What do you suppose this is

The rear one is the real engine, but it's too small for the N number, so they kept the original engine to display the N number. Or maybe it's a super complicated sensor package to determine how an airfoil creates lift?

    Flying after a DUI

Wow is right! I had to look that up, and it would take a 180lb man 10 drinks to get to .20, not allowing for any metabolization (so probably more than 10 unless you chugged them fast). I wouldn't be driving (or walking or standing) after that.

    Weather plus get-there-itis example

That was definitely worth watching -- I like how honest he was with the mistakes he made, but that alert noise was super annoying. Monday morning quarterback mode - I wonder if he should have declared an emergency? He was in the clouds with no airspeed indicator and it might have given him...

And if you thought the last student was painful to listen to...

I think the most egregious action was the other pilot who flew a base instead of a downwind, and had to go around because of it.

And if you thought the last student was painful to listen to...

At about 2 minutes, why did the controller tell him since he didn't comply with his instructions he now had to reroute everyone? The controller suggested he fly 300 degrees, and it seemed like he was doing that (at least as well as I could see on my phone). Did I miss something else?

    Contractors, assemble!

What material is the countertop? It didn't look like granite in the picture, but if it's quartz or some other heavy material and the cabinets weren't shimmed correctly in the front, I'm not sure trying to tighten the cabinet mounting screws would be enough to lift the cabinets back up with a...

Painful but funny Student radio work - Joplin MO

I couldn't decide if this was her first solo or first time at a towered airport. I can't imagine it was both.

    ExpressJet Restarting Operations

You're correct, their revenue model as an express carrier wasn't different, but that they decided to give that up and become a standalone airline was an interesting decision, with all the additional costs that go along with that (fuel, marketing, reservations, yield management, etc). And they...

    ExpressJet Restarting Operations

Independence Air is an interesting study. As an express carrier for United they were paid for each flight, regardless if the flight was full or empty. Independence (or ACA at the time) provided the plane and crew, United provided the passengers and paid for the fuel and paid ACA a fee for the...

    ExpressJet Restarting Operations

TED wasn't a separate airline, it was just a marketing entity by United (A320s with a new paint job and no first class seats). It was flown by United crews under the United certificate. Much like "Shuttle by United".
