    Repairman's Cert

Well then it's a good thing I said "allow your currency to lapse" and not "expire" isn't it? FAR 65.83 Read the FAR above. And please tell us where you work as an A&P so we all know where FARs are not known nor followed.

    Repairman's Cert

This is is my last reply Tom because I'm not sure if you are trolling or you legitimately have such a weak understanding of the regulations. Either way, I think the rest of the members can determine what's good advice and what's bad advice. Here you are inferring that the airplane already has...

    Repairman's Cert

A note to those who are A&Ps and considering not getting a repairmans certificate for an airplane they built and plan to own. If for some reason you decide to change careers, retire, or for some other reason allow your A&P currency to lapse, you would be grateful that you spent the 5 minutes to...

    Repairman's Cert

What are you even talking about? Yes we all know what builders assist is. We all know that someone doing a builder assist will be listed as a builder and can get the repairmans certificate. That's not what I'm talking about. YOU said that an advantage to not get a repairmans certificate (on a...

    Repairman's Cert

Builder assist is way different than what you are talking about Tom. A builder assist airplane still bears the owners name as the manufacturer. It would truly be hard to convince the FSDO that you meet the requires for a repairmans certificate on an airplane built prior to you owning it, with...

    Repairman's Cert

There really is no reason not to stop at the FSDO for 5 minutes and get it. It's free too. I built my entire airplane, completely rebuilt my Corvair, and designed the firewall forward. I'll have another set of eyes on it at annual, but I'm not sure anyone knows my airplane better than me. No one...

Video of an Experimental Design Crash

Actually the Rutan Quickie, the QAC Q2, and the Viking Dragonfly all started with canard tip mounted main wheels. The QAC Q2/Q200 and Dragonfly Mark II moved the wheels inboard like in your picture. The TriQ was a tricycle gear Q2. The Dragonfly Mark III had hoop main gear mounted to the fuselage.

Video of an Experimental Design Crash

Although not infallible, Elliot is a trained test pilot who understands test flight procedures. If anyone would rather read facts instead of a bunch of armchair quarterbacks who are way out of their league, here's the link...

Courtesy Car Story in AOPA ePilot

Glenn, I don't mean to be harsh, but it's not the red banners he's talking about. The whole website is a mash up of colors and fonts and backgrounds. It's not at all easily readable or user friendly. The layout could use a major cleanup.

    Selling my FlyBaby

Jesse, not sure what's wrong with it, but my suggestion is to pay that A&P a half days work and get it flying. A flying plane is much easier to sell. $500 to your A&P can get you a real buyer, and probably a couple thousand more on the sale price. Again, I say this not really knowing the story.

    Expired ATP Written

Well I found my knowledge test results paper. That will make this easier. I assume it's pretty cut and dry that working for a 135 operation allows the ATP practical with an expired knowledge test.

    Expired ATP Written

I passed a helicopter ATP written in late 2014. In January 2015 I began working for a Part 135 operator. I assume FAR 61.39 (c) (1) applies to me? "(c) An applicant for an airline transport pilot certificate with a rating other than those ratings set forth in paragraph (b) of this section may...

Info on Hangars in San Diego

I'm not fully opposed to a shared hangar for the right price, but they are very unfriendly to experimental aviation. Usually they have no maintenance rules in those Hangars. A hangar is a place to tinker, modify, and maybe build my next airplane, as well as a place to keep my Sonex.

Info on Hangars in San Diego

Thanks for the info guys. I know going in to it that the cost of everything is going to increase. That's the price you pay for living near the best beaches in CA with nearly perfect weather year round. But if I can't even get in to a hangar, or have to pay $1000 per month, it might not be worth...

Info on Hangars in San Diego

I have the chance to move from Bakersfield, CA to San Diego and part of the decision is hangar options. Can anyone enlighten me on hangar availability and general pricing? I just have a Sonex so a small T Hangar would suffice, but a little space to work is nice. Power is a requirement. Price is...

    VFR panel ideas ??

$16k for a VFR panel? You guys have more disposable cash than I do. Check out GRT, more capabilities for the same price and they don't nickel and dime you on everything. For example GRT includes all color coded wire harnesses at their listed price.

    VFR panel ideas ??

GRT Sport EX EFIS, GRT EIS, Garmin GTR 200 radio, used Garmin GTX 327 transponder. Modern, light, and more capability than you will need for VFR. All of the experimental add on remote ADSB boxes are compatible with the 327. This is what I have and I couldn't be happier. Synthetic Vision, moving...

It wouldn't be the first 407 to lose its tail in flight. However the pedal stop is supposed to prevent that.

    Mixture knob and fouled plugs....

Sounds like it's running too rich. You have 2 solid clues. First, plug fouling can be caused by a very rich mixture. Second, when pulling the mixture at idle, RPMs should increase, then decrease and possibly run rough, then die. If RPMs just increase then it dies, without running rough or...
