Checkride coming up, slightly concerned about stall recovery technique

Hello everyone, I have my PPL checkride coming up soon. I’ve been signed off and am just saving a little money to get it done. I feel fairly confident as far as being able to pass the ride but I have one lingering concern. I’ve flown with 3 different instructors during my training with my most...

charging dual rates for solo flights?

After reading all of this I feel pretty stupid and kinda torn. This cfi has been great I’ve really enjoyed flying with this school. I’m already signed off for my checkride and planned on taking a year then starting my instrument with them but now I don’t know. When he explained why he was...

    Nothing I'm Proud Of...

Congrats to the OP on getting clean and remaining that way. I saw my 24 year old brother take his last breath with my own 2 eyes due to dope. Best of luck with getting your medical. Fly safe

charging dual rates for solo flights?

I was signed off to take my checkride this previous Sunday. that being said I have paid dual time for every minute I have been in the airplane. My instructors reasoning was that he is responsible for me as long as I was his student. All of my solos including all cross countries were charged...

MSF as an aid in learning to fly

I’m not a CFI by any means only a pre checkride student. I’ve been an avid flight simmer since I was about 8 using an old Commodore 64. I used it for learning VOR nav and I also flew my long xc 5 or 6 times in it before I actually flew it. Don’t use it to learn stick and rudder skills. It can...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Scored an 82 on the knowledge test this morning. Happy because I passed but disappointed that I didn’t score higher. I’ve been making 90+ on practice test for the last 2 weeks and even took one this morning and made a 92. Still happy though. Another step behind me.

just a student sounding off about checkride jitters.

Went and knocked the last of my night time out last night. I needed .6 and 5 landings so we pretty much stayed in the pattern. Made it a point to keep it at 1.3 vso and I was able to land shortly beyond the numbers every time. I’m signed off to take the written, will try to schedule this week...

just a student sounding off about checkride jitters.

Thanks again for the replies. I feel much better. There are a couple of things I’d feel better about if I worked just a touch more on but in general I think It should go fine. It sounds like if you are good to go you pass and if not then you won’t. I can handle that.

just a student sounding off about checkride jitters.

Thanks a ton to all of you. The only part ( other than having brain failure and somehow forgetting to do a clearing turn or use a checklist for something) that I’m concerned about is the diversion part and my short field landings. I can land the airplane just fine in normal and x-wind but my...

    Training schedule???

Sorry to hijack but would you also recommend the same with saving 2/3 of the expense on the instrument rating as well?

    Training schedule???

I think the biggest thing is to not quit flying. In other words if something happens and you aren’t able to fly for let’s say... a month. Stay on the studying, keep it all on your mind and fly in a month. Don’t let not being able to fly for a few weeks or a month turn into not flying for a...

just a student sounding off about checkride jitters.

Hello everyone. I’m currently only needing .6 of night and my 3 hours of checkride prep along with my written to have this thing wrapped up. I have had to start and stop numerous times (first flight was in 2003) but by the time I’m done I should be right around 60 hrs total. I haven’t really...

Some people are just natural at flying

During the times I’ve had to stop flying for an extended time the sim has been the best thing for me. And if you can navigate by pilotage on x plane using an actual map it’s much harder than real world. So I think it even helped me in that regard. I’m a big fan of flight sims if you use them...

Some people are just natural at flying

Every instructor that I have had has all commented about how I seem to take to flying naturally ( I’ve always insisted to myself that this was all just to keep me encouraged and coming back). I’ve always attributed this to my experience racing karts (dirt). It takes finesse and most...
