    N/A: Sovereign Immunity

That's the most important phrase in this thread. It depends on state law, it depends on the nature of the work being performed, the verbiage of the contract, and the direction given by the governmental entity. There is no single, simple answer.

Flue Season is here- I opt out of flue shots.

Because we live in an age where the miracles of vaccination and antibiotics have removed from us the agony of: Watching children die from common diseases, Watching young men and women die from infections and simple ailments, And where medical progress has doubled life expectancy in one...

Flue Season is here- I opt out of flue shots.

Or smallpox, which had killed about 15% of all people who have ever lived, killed over half a billion people in the 20th Century alone. And was eradicated through vaccination. Just from smallpox, alone, vaccinations have prevent over a billion deaths. But yeah, it's all a scam.

    OEM Starter Options for O-540?

I just installed a Hartzell starter. Low weight, low current draw, fast spin, immune to kickback, and relatively inexpensive.

Movie "Gravity" - seen it yet?

Only if you're on exactly the same orbital path. Low earth orbit is 17,500mph. If you were on exactly opposite orbital paths (unlikely), closure would be 35,000 mph. More likely would be debris in equatorial orbit coming in from an angle to the shuttle and ISS' 51* orbit angle, with a...

Why you don't leave a partial voice message

Email and text are asynchronous communications, vs. phone which is interrupt driven. I refuse to let email and text control my life. Everyone I work with knows that email are text are NOT time-sensitive media. If it's time sensitive, call me, if not then send an email/txt. After hours...

Did you come from an aviation family or are you a 1st generation pilot/enthusiast?

Re: Did you come from an aviation family or are you a 1st generation pilot/enthusiast 1st Gen pilot. Never though of planes as a young kid, didn't build models. Was recruited into Civil Air Patrol at 13, went on an orientation flight, the rest is history.

Why you don't leave a partial voice message

In an outward facing organization, this would not be a good career move.

Why you don't leave a partial voice message

Do you have a VM message that tells me that you never check them and not to leave one? Otherwise, how am I supposed to know about your peculiar hatred of VM?

Why you don't leave a partial voice message

Email and text during work hours. If it's a question, then anything more than a few lines, pick up the phone. People will ping one-line emails and texts back and forth when one 30 second phone call would sort it out. After work hours, I don't read emails or texts. If it's important enough...

    If you MUST fly Commercial

Depends on if it was a criminal ticket. Lots of variance from one state to another, and one city/county to another. Generally, they are non-criminal. Log into your Frequent Flyer account, usually in your profile there's a box for "Known Traveler" number. That's your GE number. Love it...

Who says our medical system isn't corrupt?

They can't put anything on the Internet that isn't true. "Where'd you hear that?" The internet. My date is a french model. I met her on the internet.

    Strange call from tower...

I did ask the tower once if they could count my last T&G as three operations..... "<laughter>... That would be cheating."

    Removing back seat

The issue, it seems to me, is not that the letter refers to the 170, but that it lays out why removing the seats is not a major alteration. It doesn't change the CG, it doesn't change the gross weight, it doesn't change the flight characteristics of the aircraft, it doesn't change emergency...

    Locating the runway

Get on it! When you do a cross-country, note every airport within 20 miles of your courseline, and use them as checkpoints. Like everything else, you get better with practice. Picking out airports gets easier as you do it more and more.

    Credit Card Recommendations?

I travel a lot, the access to airline clubs is worth it. The rebates for Global Entry, incidentals and onboard airline charges, and bag fees pays for itself. Plus it's a Mercedes Benz platinum, so I get rebates and discounts on service and parts, and a $1000 voucher the next time we're up for...

    Question for the cops

Or "donorcycles". People killed in cars often have significant parts unusable for donation. Unhelmeted bikers (or ones with beanie-type brain buckets) are brain dead with the rest of the body still usable for donations.
