    I want (airplane drool thread)

Yup! And it's less than half the price of the single-engine turboprops that it comes close to competing with.

    I want (airplane drool thread)

I've been drooling over the new Cirrus SF50 lately.

    Commercial UAS operations

I guess it would be reasonable if they came out and met you just for that purpose, but if you just caught them at the airport before or after they were teaching a lesson or something and asked them to sign you off in IACRA real quick, I don't see why they wouldn't be willing to do it for free.

    Commercial UAS operations

I can't believe a CFI would charge $50 for it. It's about 5 minutes of clicking buttons in IACRA. I had my CFI do it right before I went flying with him for currency. He didn't charge extra.

    Always, Always, Always, Be Ready!

I understand now. My concern is what happens if the engine quits after maybe 30 seconds. It may be too late to put it back down in the airport environment and you'll have less altitude to work with then if you climbed at Vy.

Lol we appear to be having some communication problems here. I meant that I didn't see the point of using Vx at times when there was no concern about clearing obstacles.

    Always, Always, Always, Be Ready!

Then at what point would you transition to Vy?

I still have trouble seeing an advantage to Vx when it's not necessary for obstacle clearance.

    Flying Is So Awesome

My cfi used a couple checklists to cover up the primary gauges without covering the engine gauges. He also did it in a way that he could still see the primary gauges from his side.

Vx will not gain you the most altitude in the shortest time. That's Vy. Vx will gain you the most altitude in the shortest horizontal distance. I only use Vx if there is a concern of obstacle clearance. Otherwise I use Vy to gain altitude as fast as possible so I have more options if the engine...

    Always, Always, Always, Be Ready!

You would climb at Vy to gain altitude as fast as you can.

Would this hot start procedure work on a Cessna?

60 seconds with the mixture cut off? Otherwise I would think that would flood the engine.

    Highway Landing

Someone on this forum mentioned that they once had a crankshaft break during the flight and felt like the engine was making no power, just windmilling. When they landed, the engine continued to idle but would not go above idle.

    Hobby Flying

I guess I'm lucky. My wife loves flying with me. I have quite a few friends and coworkers that line up to go for the next flight. Even my wife has brought along a number of her friends who want to do it again. I don't remember the last time I had less than two passengers on board besides...

    Highway Landing

I can't explain the accident scene but when they're trying to secure a crowded area they use dump trucks filled with sand as barriers to prevent a terrorist from ramming a vehicle into a crowd like we've seen several times in Europe. They did this around Time Square for New Years.

Lightning strike causes CAPS deployment in Cirrus on ground

Didn't Cirrus switch from a mechanical igniter to an electrical one a few years ago? I wonder which one this had.

Lightning strike causes CAPS deployment in Cirrus on ground

It's a safety feature. Fly into a thunderstorm and you don't even have to pull the handle!
