Spend my money - which autopilot?

I figured that the replacement would be announced at Oshkosh as my plane was completed in June. :D But I figure that even if it comes out shortly, there will be a good window to upgrade and sell the G3X I have

PA28R-180 Piper Arrow Panel Upgrade Talk

I just don't like the curved tapes of the 275. Not an Arrow, but my Mooney panel.

    Where should a beginner start???

At 16, I would point you to check out Civil Air Patrol. You are a little late into the program, but maybe still can get involved and qualify for some free flight training. Even without getting into that, you at least get some flight time with Cadet Orientation Flights.

Important aspects of flying (outside of passing the checkride) that a pilot should learn for PP.

To me, the best instructors can let the student get deeper into trouble, while being perfectly safe for the instructor to recover if needed.

Important aspects of flying (outside of passing the checkride) that a pilot should learn for PP.

Then why so many crashes due to those things????? I have taught CFIs about number 3, in an aerobatic airplane so could take it into the stall/spin. Opened their eyes. They "knew" about it, but it was a book knowing. Having the plane do a half snap to the low wing got their attention. Then...

So, Why Do We Need EAGLE And ASTM, Anyway? (Avweb)

Which is why there are defined conditions for each type of octane rating. Motor Octane Number (MON) and Research Octane Number (RON) use different conditions and for typical car gas yield numbers that are about 10 points different. But the spread can be less or more Aircraft Lean and Rich...

Another unleaded 100LL replacement approved (Swift 100R)

Do you know the deal? Are they paying for it? Or is Swift supplying it so they can say it is being flown?

    Tug advice.

Nice thing about a Sidewinder over others is you can fold it and take it with you to use on other ramps. :D

Why are ramp checks allowed when random traffic stops are not?

Those are all violations of motor vehicle codes.

How much did poor training contribute to this accident?

I learned this on my PP checkride. Grumman Tiger, so 4 place, so training was max 2 pilot and many times, less than full fuel. My instructor asked if I minded him riding in the back on my checkride. I was fine with this, as was the DPE. First take off was to be a soft field. I banged the...

Spend my money - which autopilot?

The G500TXi is a LOT more than a G3X. It does more and is a bit more configurable, but a great piece of tech. G3X - $11,895 list G500TXi - $17,305 list. And the G500TXi requires a second 7" screen and setup to add Engine monitoring at another $10,960 for a 6 cylinder. G3X EIS adds $3,245 to...

    Plexiglass Windscreens - polishing

You have to be very careful when polishing (which removes material) to avoid waves in the final surface. My CAP-10 seems to have been polished on the sides of the windshield. Very obvious waves when the sun is at the right angle. Due to this and some crazing, it is getting a new windshield.

How to enter a holding pattern?

I saw a post about a controller stating that he didn't care what you did or how you did it, as long as you were near the fix and at the right altitude. :D I did a lot of my early instrument work in a T-38A. So at 300 KIAS, the space protected it is a lot smaller feeling. :D

How to enter a holding pattern?

That is my way. I do teardrop or direct. No parallel. They never made any sense. Change it to a teardrop and make life easier.

    Instrument proficiency check

I did an IPC to return to flying a couple of years ago. Did most of the work in an AATD. 1.3 in an airplane to do landing and circle to land (and a couple of extra for night currency :D )
