    Basicmed certificate wants doctor's information

I guess Basicmed is to avoid going to the AME every 2 years if you're over 40 and to avoid getting a medical physical every 2 years? I think I also read that getting a non AME medical physical would keep any findings from the FAA that might disqualify the applicant from getting a license...

    Basicmed certificate wants doctor's information

So the AOPA questionaire I took wasn't necessary?

    Basicmed certificate wants doctor's information

I think I should just get a flight physical (even though that still requires paperwork) because I don't get and probably didn't read something correctly regarding the Basicmed program. I passed the online medical quiz on the aopa website and now I need to fill in the certificate but don't know...

    Sunglasses

A nice option for either polarized and/or gradient tint is Chemistrie clips. They need your frame to drill small holes in the periphery to put magnets in and then the clip is customized to match the lens shape. The material is called HiVex and has a higher Abbe value than both poly and trivex...

    Red sprite lightning

I was doing a blog post on my site today (I'll shameless plug that below). Apparently pilots have witnessed red sprite lightning for a century. It wasn't until 1989 that the phenomenon was documented (I guess by high speed photography). Anyone ever see this? I'm always way behind the pilot in...

    Eye exam before medical?

Does FAA exam measure at those distances? I don't recall a 20 foot distance. It was simulated in a box. And the 32" wasn't done. Maybe this is all at the "discretion" of the AME too?

    Once certified, always certified?

Getting it and getting it are sometimes different. But I get what you're saying.

    Once certified, always certified?

Ok, so pretty substantial and something that meets FAR 21.191. If a plane gets a new engine that is not the original then it could be reclassified as experimental. Bear with me because I don't use the exact aviation language. The new engine could also fall under the other option to remain...

    Once certified, always certified?

Is there ever a point in time when a certified plane can be decertified so that any changes made do not have to follow the certified rules?

    Headsets on commercial flight?

why would it be a problem? I see a lot of people saying what happened but why would a headset be a concern? There are so many other kinds of listening headsets...why yours?

    Radon Myth & Truth

Before I sold my townhouse I knew that the buyer/inspector was going to have some issue with radon testing. I did my little google search, read some articles and decided that a person would have to live in the basement for 76 years straight without leaving before they have a significantly...

    Atmospheric refraction

I'm only just getting around to learning theoretical physics and the other dimensions. But high school? I remember a couple of teachers and girls but that's about it. Your post has some nice irony in your last sentence. At first I thought you might be super intelligent. What kinds of things...
