    Who else loves short field???

Thanks Stewart, I do heed cautionary advice, but I tend to disregard negativity. Thanks for being on the positive side!

    Who else loves short field???

Clip, I went there apprehensive of the risks to begin with. I have a good instructor and to be honest, I'm fairly skittish, as a student. When my instructor said we were gonna go to ENW and do pattern work again, L'il Miss Thang here had to go and whine about it saying "But we ALWAYS go to...

    Who else loves short field???

Airplane is a Flight Design CTLS, strip was 2500, as opposed to the almost 4500 that I am used to. Airport was 96C (Fox River in southern Wisconsin).

    Who else loves short field???

Well, as the subject line alludes, today I was introduced to short field takeoffs and landings at this tiny little strip that could barely be seen from the air. I'M HOOKED. The efficiency of it is so intriguing to me, it's all so quick and precise, it's such a satisfying challenge. Am I...

Another wannabe pilot walks into the room...

Hey there! Hope you'll be joining us up in the sky, you are right to be joining forums like this and talking to other students and certificates pilots as part of your preparation to make flight training decisions. All in all, I see no bad advice here from any of the previous posters. I would...

    Testing a theory...

Finding my original response tasteless and unnecessary, I feel compelled to redeem this thread by encouraging us all to agree that the OP was simply greeting my dog instead of starting an inappropriate and unbecoming word association game... "Hi, Jack!"

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Heyoooooo! I'm from IL, about 40 minutes north of downtown Chicago (on a good day). I began training at UGN but they don't have any LSA, so I switched up to RAC because sport is really a better option for me than private. I've got just over 20 hours, and I'd really like to get my tail wheel...

I’m starting my flight training but I’m scared of dying.

Were you trying to write a punk song, or encourage an aspiring pilot to learn to fly..?

I'm literally just about to go to my neighborhood FSDO with my laptop and be like "HEY! WATTUP WIT DAT?!" it's so frustrating.

    IACRA Issues

I used Chrome initially. The guy from the FAA Help Desk (*who called me at 8:30 on Sunday morning) told me that using Chrome might be the problem. I've just tried Edge, still having the same issue. I hate admitting defeat, but...I'll just have to wait til my CFI gets back to sit down and go...

    IACRA Issues

So, my app is all filled out, information all correct, pop-ups blocked...but the Submit button is still not working! It shows up green, but the letters inside are still gray, implying that I am missing something somewhere. I've gone over my application over and over again, even got in touch...

I’m starting my flight training but I’m scared of dying.

Yeah, people are being total downers around here! My first flight was also in a DA20...I was super excited and super nervous at the same time, and I think it's very natural for most first-time flyers, especially for those who have never flown in a small aircraft before. The feeling of being in...

    Quite possibly a silly question

I don't train in IL, I found a sport program in Wisconsin. I used to fly out of Waukegan until I realized a sport program was the better route for me.

    Quite possibly a silly question

Perfect. I am more than happy to be examined in an aircraft I know and love.

    Quite possibly a silly question

Will a DPE perform a checkride in the airplane you've been training in at flight school? Like, if I've been training in CTLS, are they allowed to throw me in any other light sport they want? Or do they go with whatever plane I have been training in?
