3rd Class SI Issued…..hoping I get the real one soon!

I went in with a filled out and signed Initial Status Report from my treating physician, signed attestation of CPAP use, 1 yr history of compliance, my original sleep study, and clinical summary notes from my treating physician. He also went through the decision matrix, assuming all that is...

3rd Class SI Issued…..hoping I get the real one soon!

All, I’ve been reading medical successes and failures for about two years now. I’ve got a history, met with an AME for a consult, and today had my exam. Thanks to this group I had all my paperwork in place and made it fairly easy for the AME to issue in office. For a little while I have a...

8500-8 "General Explanations Pertaining to Medical History", what is it used for?

I'm no spring chicken, but I'm not old either (or so I think). Like many I have a medical history, I've answered all the questions to the best of my ability and have provided comments to all the have I ever...."yes" items under #18. Towards the bottom of the paged under Part 3 it lists...

    MedExpress Question 19 Question

Hello, I have a few hoops to jump through and have consulted with a senior AME in my area for a path forward and to document the more difficult issues as part of a MedExpress. However, as I was going through the form, question 19 had me thinking back on what types of professionals I have...

    Anyone watch Jimmy's World?

That save the 310 video parody was super funny.

    Basic Med Rules

Not doubting the profitability piece however, as a CPAP user it has drastically improved my sleep quality. I thought it was normal to sleep like crap each night, wake up with headaches, sore throats and GERD. Since getting a sleep study done, and using CPAP for about 5 months, all my symptoms...

    Chances with Adjustment Disorder

Dr. Lou knows best, however here is something I found on Reddit that show a few folks who were successful in getting normal issuance with adjustment disorder diagnosis. Perhaps they were different because it was anxiety only and not combined? Seems like a hit or miss thing with the FAA as of...

Phillips CPAP and BiPAP Recall - FAA sleep apnea compliance?

I was "lucky", I fronted the cash for a Resmed from my DME. I then returned the Phillips machine and was reimbursed for the cost of the Resmed and it is now covered by insurance for supplies. It wasn't as complicated as it sounds..

How Federal Restrictions Force Pilots To Hide Mental Illness

Yup, spot on. They purposely ignored symptoms and it ended up killing them all.

How Federal Restrictions Force Pilots To Hide Mental Illness

It’s more than mental illness. I’ve lost a few friends so far due to illness because they refused to see anyone due to losing their livelihood or military careers.

    This Feels so Intrusive!

Its true, many turn to meds as a quick fix. All to often, doctors are willing to offer it up without the patient asking. Along with the script is a silent diagnosis that lingers in a record ready to be eaten up by the FAA so it can spit out a denial. Now, hindsight for some, would want to...

Phillips CPAP and BiPAP Recall - FAA sleep apnea compliance?

Sad part is they’re not cheap. I just got one and it was darn near $800 private pay. I’m still going to see what happens with my Philips that was paid for by insurance as the supplies are paid for by insurance. The new one I have isn’t covered nor are the supplies.

    This Feels so Intrusive!

In my case I was reacting to a possible cancer diagnosis and was nervous about the initial indicators that were showing during some of the tests that were done. Granted I could have stayed away from Google and it helped once I accepted my fate. Expressing my concern to my doc led to a “why not...

    This Feels so Intrusive!

Does the reason for the script matter? I would agree that if you’ve been on an SSRI for some time that it was warranted at some point in your life. I would assume you’d need to prove you’re stable both on and/or off the meds. However what if you were prescribed an SSRI, it was filled only...

Phillips CPAP and BiPAP Recall - FAA sleep apnea compliance?

Spoke with my DME vendor, they’re simply taking names of those who call in. So far they have no plans yet for replacement, loaners, or repairs. I opted to buy a second machine as I didn’t want to wait for Philips and/or the DME to drag their feet. It’s taken me a while to get used to CPAP and...
