We used to do the additives the way you do at your airline. Couple years ago they changed and we now do the additive regardless of whether or not you’re using autothrottles. (I’m not United)
That must be a 737 thing, not Boeing in general. The 75/76 displays IDLE on the FMA when you reach Top of Descent and at 25’ for autolands. I’ve never seen RETARD displayed.

Can’t believe all 3 people survived this! Speaks to how tough the Metro is built. I’ve got about 500 hours in these from way back, they’re stout airplanes.
If I remember correctly, the winds were horrible that day and gusty. They tried one approach, went around and I believe diverted to KLAX. It was the late 90s so I could be wrong.
There’s an effort underway trying to raise money and restore that DC-3. Don’t think it’s gained a lot of traction though. Those in the skydiving community know that plane as Mr. Douglas although it doesn’t have that paint job anymore
That’s airline specific. We generally have plenty of fuel to hold for at least 30 minutes. Longest I think I’ve done is 1:30 waiting for visibility to come up above mins in Guadalajara.
I was looking at Traegers last year. Ended up buying a Weber Smokey Mountain. Turned out Traegers are made in China so that was a big nope for me. Been very happy with the Weber.
