    Don’t discount the OAT and wind component on an approach. I mean I don’t really care because the GFC500 flies approaches better than I ever did but since I talk to my plane it is nice to let it know how good it is doing and where the wind is coming from.

    I have a bunch of letters after my CFI and am not even a really good pilot. I still wouldn’t do primary instruction because those people are trying to kill you.

    It took 17 seconds until I rotated at 65. Airport elevation 5660.5 ft Cessna R182, I guess I could have slammed the throttle forward and that would have shaved off .5 seconds.

    Without visible moisture or high humidity I have never seen anything RPM wise that would bother me but we are high and dry in Colorado. I have used carb heat above 16,000 and the engine actually ran better, something about better atomization of the fuel.

    I bet my AP could fly that thing perfect. Why do we even do IFR ratings anymore with the level of sophistication of a GFC500.
