Don’t discount the OAT and wind component on an approach. I mean I don’t really care because the GFC500 flies approaches better than I ever did but since I talk to my plane it is nice to let it know how good it is doing and where the wind is coming from.

How many dual VOR approaches are you planning to fly? I have a 530/430 but if it were just dual VOR vs shiny new GPS, I would probably go shiny and new.

I have a bunch of letters after my CFI and am not even a really good pilot. I still wouldn’t do primary instruction because those people are trying to kill you.

It took 17 seconds until I rotated at 65. Airport elevation 5660.5 ft Cessna R182, I guess I could have slammed the throttle forward and that would have shaved off .5 seconds.

So if your shop at metro won’t fix it, you don’t want to upgrade, you don’t want to send it out, what advice would you be willing to accept?

Don’t hire that one guy that won’t pay dual rates cause he ain’t a student anymore.

So are only 90% of the instructors high-quality now? If you got a CFI that can’t do basic maneuvers that seems like a bad hire. Do you charge that guy dual for instruction?

Without visible moisture or high humidity I have never seen anything RPM wise that would bother me but we are high and dry in Colorado. I have used carb heat above 16,000 and the engine actually ran better, something about better atomization of the fuel.

You could just land and park on the self serve side. Worst case you come stuck your tail in my hangar if it is only a couple of hours. Got a bathroom and some bottled water in the hangar. PM me if you are interested.

Put all that stuff in an R182 and you will be happier in the long run.
