PA 28-235 Down in Illinois, 4 Dead, 5/31/2020

Not CO poisoning Tested and was negative. Not wings failing from normal flight. Witness saw plane break apart as it was coming down (..as a result of for sure). 80 hour pilot in high performance plane most likely doing maneuvers in a high performance plane, at low speed... seems most likely...

PA 28-235 Down in Illinois, 4 Dead, 5/31/2020

No CO incapacitation, tested for in the Tox report. See Carboxyhemoglobin = Not Detected. ""Carboxyhemoglobin (COHb) is a stable complex of carbon monoxide that forms in red blood cells when carbon monoxide is inhaled. COHb should be measured if carbon monoxide or methylene chloride poisoning...

Must have aviation apps for Apple Watch

Ok we now know about the weather apps and associated troubleshooting above. Any other apps out there you find useful. Does Apple Watch compete with the Garmin D2Air X10

    Salty's Crash Speculation Thread

Early indication is that the weather was not a factor. Preliminary analysis showed too much CarbonDioxide in his drink and in conjunction with his recent colonoscopy left a high pressure system in the plane!

Pilot arrested for operating while intoxicated after plane crash in South Bend

Run like hell is what he should have done and explained later he was in a state of shock. On the other hand Indiana Jones confused the taxiway for a runway sober. This guy just missed the driveway a little. Nice flying. I wonder if his house is in the neighborhood and he was just trying to...

    Gullstream down in Dominican Republic

That was my first thought also. Didn't seem that speed was an issue, they kept that relatively stable, so assuming engines were generating enough thrust. They climbed to 1750 then back down to 800 a number of times. Does someone know how to get ATC communication?

    Crashed my Flight Design CTLS

VFRONLY I am sure you want those minutes back to make better ADM :) (Sarcasm). Cool thing now that you still have your life, you can play around for hours on a flight sim and rock the landing, stretch the glidepath or land at 25SC. NTSB did that for Sully to prove all the great options he had...

King Air down Boyne City, MI

I dont know about all the pro pilots here but early on during IFR training, I used to find myself often letting the speed start to drop on glidepath to below what we liked(close to stall). My instructor would point to me...watch the speed watch the speed....when I was doing instrument training...

172 Crash near KFWN (Sussex County)

Yeah it seemed that he threaded the needle between a house and a bunch of trees and the knees gave out. Dan u da man! That stuff scares me. Flying am ok with, mountain climbing also..but it seems that if you are bit to right or left you hit something painful...not to mention if the backpack...

    V-Tail in the Drink?

The Tampa Triangle strikes again. He looks sharp and dry. Rolled up his sleeves ready for the rescue. "It's a shame what they did to that plane". Glad all is well.

172 Crash near KFWN (Sussex County)

Ask and you shall receive. Did not take long for DG to provide expert speculation! Ughhh the second half of this video that is...the first half some will hope that the parachute doesn't deploy or the trees win...no such luck (just kidding, don't wish anyone harm glad he made it down)

    Island Airways -Beaver Island crash

Joshua as you can tell from discussions here, We often discuss plane accidents at POA, often without much information. We do so to learn from the bits and pieces we can put together. Its speculation at best but it takes the NTSB 2 years to tell us what happened and often they do not even...

King Air down Boyne City, MI

Yup. Been there on a sunny day and coming into Boyne you definitely need to keep altitude up. I am glad I went there first time on a clear day. It's distracting as the airport is between hills and the city on the west side.....as said above..for flat Michigan its more challenging than the...

    Island Airways -Beaver Island crash

Actually they typically use the 2500 foot long 30 foot wide runway at Welke field. I am too chicken to land a Saratoga there. Road and trees line west end of the runway...not to mention the 30 foot wide runway that goes up and down and has a bump at the grass field intersection. However...

172 Crash near KFWN (Sussex County)

By the time this one is figured out it will be long forgotten and past our collective minds. So we are left with nothing but speculation in an attempt to sort out for ourselves how we may have done or will do better should it happen to us(this or any other accident). Personally I find value in...
