    Thoughts on a Cherokee 140 as a learner & 1st plane

This brings up another question. The annual, which is also called the 100 hour, MUST be done once a every 12 months or every 100 hours, which ever comes first... is that correct? The overhaul is optional or how does that work. Does not doing it mean you cannot take passengers until done?

    Thoughts on a Cherokee 140 as a learner & 1st plane

Ideally, I'd like to do a cross country flight after I get my license. Connecticut to New Mexico, where I have some family. Would this plane be able to make that trek and back in one piece?

    Thoughts on a Cherokee 140 as a learner & 1st plane

Wondering if I can get some input on buying a Cherokee 140 to earn my PPL in and then have as my own plane afterwards? From what I've read, it seems to be an easy plane to fly and even easier to land, offers decent economy fuel wise and reasonable repair and overhaul costs. The con I'm...

PLL training: Flight school or own-a-plane route?

Question: If I was to locate a plane not in my local area is there a process whereby I can hire someone to ferry the plane to my "home field" and then put them on a flight back home? If so, where might I search for this person? This would be after I have inspected the plane myself and hired a...

Lost log book woes : (

BTW: That Cesna 152 rented for $35/hour back in 1986 with fuel and insurance included. Today, the fuel alone is $45/hour for the Cesna 172. The CFI fee was $20/hour.

Lost log book woes : (

What a can of worms I've opened, but polite disagreement is always healthy. The local FAA in charge of my area called me today and we had a long discussion. The gist of it was this. He suggested I do (as some have already suggested), the following: 1) Create a document stating the logbook was...

MSF as an aid in learning to fly

Why do you say it makes you reply on reading the instruments? The videos I've seen show a very detailed panorama of the cockpit window and all that is outside. Moving the controls affects the angle of horizon, banking, height, etc. as in a real plane.

PLL training: Flight school or own-a-plane route?

Actually, I used to design circuitry for motion picture camera control that was based on PLL, so yes, I do understand.

PLL training: Flight school or own-a-plane route?

These are all great replies and I will consider what you have said. I guess my concern is, if I was to go the "freelance" CFI route, my understanding is, they do not come with a plane. You must supply your own. Visited Goodspeed yesterday. All locked up. No activity so I could not get any...

PLL training: Flight school or own-a-plane route?

So, by now you folks have read my other posts. Want to go back and complete my PPL from years ago. Where I live now in Connecticut is in the sticks. There is a privately owned but open to the public airstrip called Goodspeed just 10 miles from me. Not much, gravel runway, no tower, no service...

Lost log book woes : (

Hello all. Thanks for the replies and the discussion. Much appreciated both pro and con. I've sent an email to my local FAA office asking for advice. Will await their reply and report back. I understand the hours may mean little to some in terms of current flying ability. I cannot just hop in...

Lost log book woes : (

This is what I'm going by. BTW: it is a big deal to me. I spent 30+ hours flying as a student and that still belongs to me. http://fsims.faa.gov/PICDetail.aspx?docId=8900.1,Vol.5,Ch1,Sec8

Lost log book woes : (

I'm fairly certain I have lost my old student pilot log book. I moved a while back and lots of stuff from the basement, where this was, got tossed or misplaced. Have not flown since 1986, when I began my journey to become a PPL but had to give it up after my first solo. Anyway, according to...

MSF as an aid in learning to fly

Hell to all. My first post. A bit of background... took flying lessons for several months back in 1986, passed the written and soloed, got my student certificate then had to give up for various "life" reasons. Now, semi-retired and in excellent health, I want to complete what I started, buy a...
