    Airport Question: Street Outlaws

There clearly was enough to add an ATCT a few years back. Its actually a busy field. I'm not a fan of non-aviation use of facilities no matter what the pretext.

    Airport Question: Street Outlaws

GLS Started off with three runways... ended up closing the east west one.. putting a convention center and Moody Gardens in on the footprint... They turned a bunch of other airport land into ballparks... and even took an old hangar and tried to use it for Schlitterbahn waterpark before it...

    Airport Question: Street Outlaws

I'm thinking they should practice where they are filming production, and pay the freight there for road closures or site rental. Not a big fan of non-aeronautical use of airports.. It can start a slippery slope that eventually displaces its primary purpose.

PIC time in AV-8B Harrier can't be logged as time in an airplane.

I recall reading the comment that the Harrier never took off vertically and bombed anything... Rolling takeoffs for those sorts of missions...

    Is Pre-Solo Plateau Normal?

I plateaued just as you are describing. My issue was the last few feet of the flare/landing... around 10-11 hrs... just wasn't clicking.. I soloed around 17 hrs. One day it just clicked. I subsequently got my ticket at 44 hrs. Dont look at this as a set back.. every hour counts in the learning...

VFR Flying a 182 into KLAS

If money is no object, go to the closest airport with the best services available. You will likely see some very snazzy FBO's.

Flying to the Texas State Fair

Absolutely nothing wrong with Love... and I'm sure the FBO there can have a rental for you if you ask ahead. But you could take DART and dispense with the hassle.

    OMG a Missed Approach

Is that part of a 135 op spec somewhere? Looking at the plates, all the MAP's are climbing right turns, with no mention on the plates of balked landings... or is it something that is patently obvious when on short final?

    Crash in Taylor, TX

That is a rough estimation. But yea... Its a sobering number. Which is why when I had an elderly patient in the burn ICU with only a 5% or 10% 3rd degree burn, its still life threatening to them. Inhalation burns alter those odds. Being unhealthy beforehand (diabetic, heart disease...

    Crash in Taylor, TX

60% burns isn't the kiss of death for an otherwise healthy middle aged male, but survival is not assured. He has a long road ahead of him. And there are things worse than death. A rough formula of age + the percentage of body burned = rough percent likelihood of death. Its not absolute.. but...

    N/A Security camera configuration?

I'm not a camera guru, nor a security guru... So my question and comments are more on the operations end of it. What exactly are you monitoring... And what brought this on? Did something happen in the form of a break in? or is the collection basket coming up light? I would presume/hope that...

    NA Typical paycheck waiting time

The mandatory DD for people without a bank account ends up being a debit card that has high user fees for the user... Be careful going that route.

Does Trump sell his 757 when he becomes president?

Is that raw airframe hourly cost? Or hourly mission cost, factoring in the C17's with limo's, helo, details, advance team labor costs, etc....?

When Minimum altitude on SID/STAR is too high for your cruise ALT

Chances are you did not read the entire chart plate. Somewhere on that chart you are highly likely to find that the procedure is intended for turbojet or turboprop aircraft.

DME morse code heard on Nav frequency

I'm a big "why" person, which is why I've humored many of the requests... but truly and honestly, if this is the sort of thing you are focusing on, you are distracting from your training at this stage, not really benefitting it. I had a retired aeronautical engineer from the B2 program, who was...

DME morse code heard on Nav frequency

When you are asking about XYZ when you should be learning ABC (according to the information you are providing), it get a bit tedious. Some people like to major in minor things. And obsess about details that wont get them safer and more proficient sooner.

DME morse code heard on Nav frequency

What did your instructor say? You did ask them right? You recently have made it sound like you are getting ready to do a check ride... you are supposedly in instrument training... this is along the lines of "day 1, flight 1" material of instrument flying. Not stuff you would be unaware of...
