    Balloon fire/crash

4 prior DWI's on the accident pilot. Maybe they SHOULD require a medical for commercial aviation ops.. http://www.statesman.com/news/live-coverage-federal-hearing-lockhart-hot-air-balloon-crash/bb6W9sbjNAm65AafZG0HJK/

    Feathering Single Engine

There are a few single engine aircraft that are able to feather the prop. The Mooney Missile and Rocket conversions, for instance. Loss of oil pressure would take it into feathered mode.

Charter plane down in Colombia, Brazilian soccer team on board

So... ummm.. the captain... was also part owner in this charter/recent startup airline... Starting to wonder what the implications were for flight planning and fuel reserves with a plane flying a max range profile... They only took two laps around a holding pattern before being cleared for...

Charter plane down in Colombia, Brazilian soccer team on board

Might be more believable if they used the word "power failure" in the context of a 4 engine flame out..A flight attendant survivor mentioned running out of fuel and there was no post crash fire.... Peculiar that there was no chatter leading up to this event if it WAS fuel related... On a side...

Looked up the RJ 85 after the crash in Colombia last night.. there's about 8 of them in the US in fire service... those are the only ones left in US use/hands per Wiki....

Drive Safely these holidays, I got all the wrecks I need

They auction off the cars that the insurance company wants to sell. When you accept an insurance claim, you typically assign ownership to the insurance company and they can sell it for salvage. Or if the tow lot gets a judgement for unpaid towing and storage fees. If the deceased's family...

Good fuel stop between KY and TX... and passing through Houston

I can pretty much guarantee unless you come through at 2 am you will not be flying THROUGH the Houston Terminal Airspace and will be vectored around.. Over or around... For where you are coming from there is no benefit or gain to descending to 1500-1800 feet and passing through the East-West...

Been 50days still can't pass a drug test for thc

I've heard that THC is fat soluble. I have not independently verified this. If you were fatter when you smoked, some of it stores there.. Then when you lose weight/burn fat, you release some of that THC into the blood stream, where it is detectable again, and shows up in hair again for the...

How does the FAA find out about controlled prescriptions?

The drugs themselves are on the no-no list with or without the diagnosis.

John Travolta and his Boeing 727

There are open lots at the airpark. The last time I looked the "HOA" dues were EXPENSIVE... many thousands a year... just to start... I'm sure he has staff to tend to the planes and maintain them... (planes as in multiple... I think he's got a bizjet and a few others)

    Please help with FAA medical

I get that you are regretful and remorseful... but a couple things... 1) You can fly an ultralite. No medical is required for part 107 operations. 2) The FAA's sole mission is safety and protecting the general public. Not protecting the airlines or the pilots. And they change at a glacial pace...

    Please help with FAA medical

Randy.. if you are still here, thanks for your service.. and I am sorry you have come across the medical certification hurdle the hard way. If I was to guess, you've already put quite a bit of time and money into this and just now approached the medical exam. As you've discovered, the FAA is...

    Please help with FAA medical

No. You cannot have been denied or deferred a medical certificate in order to exercise the SP option. Now that he's rung this bell, he cannot unring it. He has to get medically certified (SI or otherwise) before he can exercise sport pilot privileges.

Complex / HP endorsements - Recommendations?

The places I've rented complex from either required 25-50 hours complex total time, or 5 hours in make/model before being able to take the aircraft without an instructor. If you dont have the complex total, then its a minimum of 5 make and model. If you dont have 5 hours make and model, you are...

Thats an airframe problem not necessarily a complex problem. Had you not been in a T-tail it wouldn't be much different than other cherokees

What has been your experience thus far in your training? For instance, at the field you are flying out of now? or the towered field you might be training at?
