Beach Vaca / alternatives to JKA (gulf shores)

This is stale knowledge, but when we went to Destin we were IFR and typically brought in from the north from the Crestview VORTAC. Been a while since I've been there. If you are flight following, you are already talking to the people you need to.. so you can EITHER do the coastline at below...

    IFR direct over Chicago...

    Exactly my point.

    IFR direct over Chicago...

No more so than other people chose to make it a corporate pilots fault who was allegedly legally operating in Class E airspace. If the letter happened as alleged, it was a douche move.

    IFR direct over Chicago...

So the airline pilot let ATC vector him into a VFR target? How is that the corporate chief pilots fault? The corporate guy was flying legally where he had a right to be. With his transponder on, I'm sure. And there was approach radar AND TCAS in play, no? Not to mention the Mark 1 Mod 1 Eyeball?

United CEO says it's passenger's fault regarding seat pitch

This is a big one.. but I also look at time in transit.. nonstop versus stopover versus connection. I'm not going to save 30-50 dollars each way by taking the grand tour of the US and making 3 connections. Time is money to me. I've also realized that while I might FIND a fare on Expedia or...

    Jury Duty

I used to be all gung ho about going when summoned, then I moved to a suburban Texas county that had a peculiar system. They mailed you a summons. It had a return mailer postcard attached to it that encouraged you to mail it in confirming receipt of the summons. Thats how they knew they reached...

Please help - Do I have to disclose a sealed record?

Why would the federal government need your permission to look at the federal government's files when you voluntarily apply for something from the federal government?

Is a chiropractor considered a physician?

And in many "urgent care" settings the PA or NP is the only one present, so the supervising physician isn't present to sign the form. Dont bother with minute clinic or Redi Clinic. There is no physician in the kiosk. You COULD go see a family or IM doc who also does AME on the side, and inquire...

student pilot solo - spending hours at destination?

Legally you can do it. Do everything you are supposed to.. review, etc. Now... whether it is wise... this is the sticky wicket. This involves how you feel about the decision-making and skill of the student, and his maturity. Flying a long cross country solo to a destination with a purpose...

    GPS Notam ??

Sadly, No... but had I pursued my PPL when I first became interested in aviation in my teens, I very well might have. And had questions on Loran-C

    Adios AOPA...

Basic Med.. not perfect.. BUT... IT IS HUGE. This allows me to not have to pursue a special issuance and all the hassle and review. This will be one of the things that facilitates me returning to the sky.

Please help - Do I have to disclose a sealed record?

The Feds WILL see it. As I've heard someone else explain... 24 hours after your local arrest, the state has it in their system. 24 hours after that, the feds have the record of the arrest in the system. Sealing something at the state level does nothing to require the feds to delete their...

Why are people afraid of Class B?

For example... I live in the Houston Terminal area... In January 2004 a friend of mine came to stay in my coastal residence (rather than a hotel) while he got his multi training. At the time there was an offshore pipeline patrol outfit in Galveston that let students earn their ME rating...

    Basicmed this friday

PA's and NP's ARE state licensed... just not physicians. Its more reasonable to state that the regulations specify that a state licensed PHYSICIAN perform and sign off on the exam.

Why are people afraid of Class B?

Sometimes its where you need to go.... to pick someone up or drop them off... for reasons particular to them. Ive done it a few times.

Why are people afraid of Class B?

Same here.. I had years of Fire, EMS and dispatch for both under my belt. I trained out of a towered airport. I was in the veil of a Class B. I sat with my scanner and listened to tower, approach, and clearance for a while to understand WHAT they were saying, how they were saying it, and why...

    Max operating temperature for airplane

This may be relevant or not.. but the Op Specs for the carriers (135, 121, etc) requires them to have the data for every operation they will perform.. Intersection takeoff? Got to have the data published for that intersection... Temps? Got to have the data. Their op specs have the force of...

    GPS Notam ??

Depending on where you are and the time you are there, you may not have enough functioning satellites visible to the GPS device to perform all expected functions. You should be able to get a position plot, but you may not have enough visible to provided the required fidelity and cross checking...
