    Dead GPS ??

We have a new Avidyne that was affected but did not “die”. We have not done the update but it was fine this morning when I flew - just the warning about expired databases. I am less that thrilled that we had this unit installed in January and I need to pay to have the software updated for a...

    Northern Ohio destinations

After 28 years as a Browns season ticket holder I finally gave mine up last year. These old bones can’t take the cold anymore. I am glad to see the team turning things around. I am content to sit in my living room next to the fireplace and watch them on the big screen. It was fun to fly in...

At BKL - tell ground you want to park on the public ramp. It is the area in front of the tower and just east of the tower. There is still a small landing fee but you don’t have to pay a ramp fee. I have never parked at CGF.

    Commercial Pilot Self Study

I am using them as well. As you get questions right multiple times, it removes them from the question bank. You are left with the questions that you had missed. It works pretty well. I also have the ASA app but it doesn’t eliminate questions so you spend a fair amount of time repeating...

Kenny - The Rock Hall is within walking distance of BKL. The picture is old - Hornblowers is not there anymore but there are a few restaurants in the harbor.

    ADS-B decision

Gary - you may also want to look at the Sentry. It has AHRS and a CO detector built in and is a bit cheaper than the Stratus. I have a Scout and would have bought the Sentry if it would have been available at the time.

Garmin just dropped a bomb on the avionics market...

Thanks Murphey. We just had our avionics stack updated and the ADF is in the side panel. I did not even ask how much to have it removed. 3-4 pounds is not getting me excited about paying anything to have it removed.

Garmin just dropped a bomb on the avionics market...

Anyone have an idea of what an ADF and associated hardware weighs? We have one in our plane and I wondered if it was worth the expense to take it out.

    Another CFI Thread

Richard - I am about the same age and at the same point in my Engineering career. I also want to do some part time flying as a semi-retirement job. I am working on the commercial now. I am working with an independent CFI now for the commercial. The problem for me now is my schedule, I...

    Headset pleasesss!

I have the Lightspeed Zulu Z3s also and really like them. I flew for 15+years with passive headsets and wish I would have got a decent ANR set sooner. I have also tried the Bose after using the Lightspeed Z3s for a few years. I like the Z3s better - but that may be becasue I am used to them...

Commercial Long XC Question (# of Airports)

I have been working on my commercial after nearlly 20 years of flying. When I read 61.129 I was also puzzled by the requirements of dual on the 100nm XCs and sole occupant on the long XC. After doing the dual XCs with a CFI - I realized that I had not been on an XC with an instructor since...

You can watch it in a browser too. Just log into Amazon first then search for it. There should be a “stream with Prime” button.

    Rebate Flight?

Eventually. As everyone suggested - you should fly per the recommendations. I did not spend enough time in the Class C airspace. I looked up my flight and saw the track so I submitted it. I should have been paying more attention. Eventually the flight was approved. Here is the first...

    Lear down TEB

No - I did not mean to imply that they are all bottom feeders. As I considered options I started reading some of the career pilot forums and it was an eye opener how many operations were skirting the rules.
