    Pilot Gift Question

Include the N number like everyone has said. FYI The reason you don't hear them use the "N" during communications is because its redundant. If you're flying a US registered aircraft in the US the N is assumed and saying "Cardinal 29521" is faster than saying "Cardinal November 29521".

Short(ish) field in a Grumman Yankee or Traveler

I can't help you with the specific performance numbers, but what you describe sounds doable with caution. A couple of questions. How high are the obstacles and are they right up at the end of the runway? What is the surface? Turf? Paved? Sloped to one particular end? Do you need to be able to...

    Be on the lookout!

We hit one in the car Saturday night. Came over the hill and there he was. Thankfully the damage was mostly cosmetic.

    Interesting sight on the rails

Those contain more parts from spirit, i'm not exactly sure what parts though. I remember after the derailment quite a few folks I know that work for spirit were working a bunch of overtime to replace the lost fuselages. They also had a backlog in shipping as they had to wait for new rail cars to...

    Raptor Aircraft

Skip to 4:20 to see the one that actually flew. Looks like the full episode is also available to watch if you have an hour and a half to kill.

    Enforce logbook entry

Talk about a grenade poster :p @SixPapaCharlie could use this thread as an example for his next internet pilots video.

    Mooney or Cardinal?

It may or may not be an issue for you. I'm 6'3", my Dad is 6'5" and we just lean the seat back one notch from fully upright and it isn't a problem for us. A little extra headroom would be nice but its still the most comfortable piston single either one of us has ever been in. All you can do is...

B-17 Down at Bradley Int'l Airport

I hope the crew is ok. That very B-17 was in my neck of the woods just a few weeks ago.

    Piper seats

Our 65' Cherokee did not have adjustable seats. They were in poor shape so we bought a set out of a 71' model that was being parted out and the pilots seat was adjustable with a hand crank.

    Cirrus killer?

I only have experience with FG Cardinals, but i'm thinking that a Cardinal RG with a Tornado Alley Turbo kit might be competitive with your $200k Cirrus. Start with this guy and stick a turbo on. https://www.barnstormers.com/ad_detail.php?id=1508295&catid=17393

    Please help ID military aircraft

That was the AN 225's original mission.

    Please help ID military aircraft

Looks a lot like an Antonov 225 except for the winglets.

Could I ignite a helium balloon by shooting a model rocket at it?

That is correct. You won't want your balloon too high or the rocket motor will burn out before it gets there. Using a 2 stage model for an extended burn might be a good idea or maybe you could coat the exterior of the rocket with something flammable and light it on fire immediately before...

    Cessna 177RG Cardinal

I don't think they're unsafe on shorter runways, I operate mine of a 2200' grass strip routinely (not at gross). The empty weight of a 68' Card is about 100 lbs heavier than a 172 so there is definitely some truth to them being underpowered. I could also see what Pilawt said about the airfoil...

    Worst/best drivers by state

Most around here will move over if safe to do so. The problem is when they can't move over people still think that vehicles already on the highway are supposed to yield to them.

    Worst/best drivers by state

Drivers here have a problem with merging too, just a different variety. Apparently nobody knows the meaning of that triangular shaped sign that is on every on ramp, they just expect the traffic already on the highway to just get out of their way as they enter. I can't count the number of times...

    Aircraft ownership question

This is similar to my situation. My Dad owns a plane that I can fly whenever I choose. I just pay for my own gas and oil, and chip in with mx costs.

Mechanic tries to sabotage airliner ...

I just feel bad for anyone with that many names. Think of how much of a pain that would be on paperwork, applications for whatever, etc...
