    Raptor Aircraft

I wonder how he plans to cool a generator capable of powering that contraption.

    Lets make Friday 'Joke Day'!

Kellogg here in Wichita is notorious for speeders. The sheriffs dept once parked a cruiser on the side which worked for a couple of days, then someone did a driveby with a paintball gun and that was the end of that.

Upcoming aviation television program you might wanna watch....

That's kind of surprising, not that they're quieter overall, but that they're that much quieter. Tires rolling over most road surfaces seem to make as much or more noise even at fairly low speeds than a well muffled gas engine. When we're out walking the dogs and hear a vehicle coming from...

    When Selling Plane- Test Flights?

If I was buying I would expect to at least go along on a short flight and make sure everything works if that is possible. That would be after we had agreed on a purchase price and I would expect the owner to do as much or as little of the flying as he wanted. When we bought the Cardinal we...

No Captain James T Kirk....Or Admiral Woolsey

I want to know if or when the space force does manned missions (or even unmanned) of any sort do they plan to use the "USS" designation and call them ships or not bother and call them craft or vehicles?

    They've come along ways

I was on destroyers so the first little bit showing a CIWS being loaded with live rounds while the dummy rounds come out is familiar, but the rest I just watched from afar. Watching approaches when we were on station as plane guard was always fun.

6000' DA, 800' Dirt Strip (Clear approaches), $50K: What plane do you buy?

I sometimes fly a 150hp Stinson at 3000' DA and I don't think it would work for this scenario even with the 165hp Franklin. Unless you are talking about a 220 Franklin then maybe you could do it if you stayed light.

    How tight is too tight?

At one time we had the Cardinal in a port-a-port T hangar with about 12" Clearance off each wingtip and less than that front and back. My solution was a mark on the back of the hangar to line the tail up with, painted lines on the deck to follow, and blocks to stop me from pushing it in too far...

    Presidential TFR

I don't doubt that the SS probably goes too far sometimes. I can also understand their institutional paranoia to a point since we HAVE had 4 presidents assassinated, 2 more shot, and numerous other attempts and plots that either never got off the ground or failed.

Yet another example of how bad Hawaii hates General Aviation.

I took a couple of glider rides there when I was stationed on the island. Unless things have changed significantly its not all that busy. Maybe I wasn't really looking for it but the aerial sightseeing activity really wasn't noticeable when I lived there. It was there but definitely not at a...

No TSA Checkpoints at more than 2500 GA Airports! Annd here we go

"The next time you look up and see one, wonder to yourself: 'Where’s it going? Where’d it come from, and what’s on board? "There’s a good chance it could be illicit narcotics.” Apparently most of us are crooks.

the "not worthy of it's own thread" thread

I thought I didn't hit a bird cruising along at 1000' AGL a couple of weeks ago. Upon further inspection, I in fact did hit a bird. Saw what looked like a small sparrow pass really close down the left side and thought to myself "Gee that was close". Got back to the hangar and found feathers...

    You’re “oops” moment aviation?

Trying to start the Cherokee once for a solo joyride as a brand new PP and was having a hell of a time. Would try to start and would die almost immediately. Dad walked over from the hangar to see whats wrong, pushed the mixture in and said "try it now". I had the checklist out but had...

    Shallow thoughts

Apparently you're not a "facts" guy either. No matter how you count it we have a ways to go before we get there and I hope we never do. My shallow thought for the day is that using solar panels to power an air conditioning unit is like using the Sun's power against itself.
