    I want one of these!!

I thought I wanted a Columbia 400. I'll have to reset my dreams....

    Taking off from road

Hehehe.... I get it... I'm pretty current and proficient at just such things - so it wasn't a big deal to me, but your point is VERY valid and well-taken! (He's poking fun of my night departure from Gaston's) Always nice to hear from you, Sir Jesse!

The only time I welcome that leaky-old-Cherokee cabin!

    Waco TX

BTW, if you're short for time, there are local places that'll suffice. Options are open.

I know Gary Drapela over there, I think it's the same huge hangar. Blackhawk has a great rep around here (duh). Kids or not, sounds like us bigger folks will get some good eatin'!

    Taking off from road

That's kinda cool when I think about it... Then I picture the rotors clipping the shelter over the gas pump, me falling sideways onto the crowd of onlookers below... Ugh. Seems less cool now.

    Waco TX

I think W's booked... But I'm around! Let me know the dates when you can, and I'll keep'em free! This is purely rhetorical, but I say as I stare into space: Why in God's name would anyone WANT to come to Waco? But, then again, we got 3 grass strips and 3 pretty good GA friendly...

    Father's Day at KMQJ / B-17

Nice pics! I had a very scary wind-shear experience in similiar circumstances. As I listened to the AWOS go through it's 60 sec cycle, every report of the wind was changed by 10 degrees, though speed was (?)constant at 31G36. It went from 350 to 180, the long way around the compass, while I...

    Taking off from road

First thing: Welcome to the boards!:) 2nd: The report says "fuel starvation", not 'fuel exhaustion'; so you may be right that he didn't run out of fuel - BUT - if he didn't just 'run-out', why was the only 'performed service' mentioned was that of adding XX gal of fuel?? I...

    My trip back from Gastons

Side effect from meeting folks from the board

Side effect??? I thought that was a DIRECT and INTENDED effect! (in a falsetto voice): "I just like the pictures...."

You guys HAVE to do this!

Cool write-up, Dave! Thanks for letting us gotta-be-at-work folks live vicariously! Hope the weather stays your friend...

    What is the possibility.....

I believe... it's got the POTENTIAL to be a 135 trap, unless you get to know the CFI, and can both agree it really is YOU flying/logging PIC-dual/getting the checkout. IMHO, this shouldn't be a problem; Let me go on record: I'd do it. I think the benefit to risk ratio is sufficient.
  17. Dr. Bill

    SVFR clearance

Nuthin'. Though a great teacher;) , I'm no CFI.

    CFIs in transition

Well said. My sentiments exactly. I may consider a second career, after an early retirement... albeit less financially secure... it will more than make up for the loss in "personal accomplishment".
  19. Dr. Bill

    Taking off from road

Still kinda sad; in so many ways.

Interview with Chicago traffic copter pilot

More like, "Uh, Duh". Always be careful flying anything with a part known as a 'Jesus nut'.
