So I'm coming home from work the other day and doing the GPS 17 approach as there was an overcast layer reported at 11 to 1200 agl on the AWOS. It also said the winds were 100 at 12. I had checked the AWOS, by my usual practice, 2 or 3 times when I was within radio range (about 50 miles)...

See Helo. See Helo motor. See Helo fly up with motor into the wind! See Helo motor quit. Feel the wind still blow. Feel gravity. See Helo fly down with gravity using the wind! Helo feels gravity too. Land, Helo, land!

But landing is a third of the fun!! :D

Good morning, Dave. I've been covering the ER in Ballinger (E30, near San Angelo) since yesterday a.m. We got quite a bit of rain/hail/wind out of the edge of some front; and this morning it's about 65 degrees outside! Hope your morning is as well! It's all suddenly so green... :-)

Ohhh.... Those Kimmy toes... :P LOL! I forgot to mention the dual I got from Tony was in KIM'S BIRD DOG! ....Sooo, THANK you Kim and Phil! I really do appreciate that flight; it had major points on the "kewel" factor!! :D

I just gotta say THANKS to all you who let me fly your plane. Especially Felix (Rob)! He let me LAND his Bo THREE times! After my recent incident, this was just the therapy the doctor ordered. I owe him a debt of gratitude that is hard to put in words... And Tony for the tailwheel time...

P.S. I recommend "through" the trees... :-)

I've come in OVER the trees, and ended my usual roll-out right at parking; I've come in through the trees and taxied 3 min to the end for parking; (so no one could see my bumpy landing) Maybe I'll try to come in UNDER the trees this trip... NOT! LOL.
