    DA vs DH Confusion

Eh, I find it a lot simpler personally. As I outlined in my first post - just forget the concept of DH until you are flying a CAT2 capable aircraft. As you said different concept, different names. So in my KISS world - DA=Cat1, DH=Cat2. A "DA" still is an "MDA" the only difference is when you...

    DA vs DH Confusion

This is why understanding the concept and why is more important than the terminology used and also why these pedantic arguments are useless. Its like being "Dead Right" about who had right of way on traffic - I'd rather be alive then right... Fly a CRJ and this is their terminology, fly...

Its still a DA, it can only be input into the system as a MDA.

    DA vs DH Confusion

You round up DA but not because of altitude lost but because the Air Data Reference panel is only capable of inputting digits to the 10s. He's saying MDA because there are two selections on the ADR panel - MDA and DH, so while it is charted one way it can only be input into the computer system...

    DA vs DH Confusion

Yes. Same at my shop. Which is why I posted my original post as I did, for simplicities sake. No reason for a Private Pilot getting his Instrument to get wrapped up in all this minutia that they will not use. You'll get the appropriate training to use it when you fly something that has the...

    Where are they now?

Ah, the once every 6 month where is? thread whereby the ol' "they got tired of the BS" gets thrown out only to be shutdown by "the people who are most in need of and most oblivious to the fact" of the amount of unnecessary BS... so in the end, nothing changes and the pedantic nitwits keep on...

    Planning a fictitious XC...chime in

Typically you'll want to pick out a waypoint 5 - 10 miles out from your airport - depending on initial altitude and climb performance - to navigate to and then turn on course. In the OP's example you could use Morehead airport JKJ, Hawley airport 04Y, the railroad junction at Glydon, etc, etc

    HSI question

Don't overcomplicate it. The HSI can't reverse sense unless you force it to. In this instance the outer markers are indicating 27 is the front course. The CDI is dialed in to 9 thereby "reverse sensing". Bada boom bada bing

Best explanation I've ever came across for HSI, just add the "It can't reverse sense unless you force it to" rule and bada bing bada boom

    Thoughts On My Resume?

For the resume - eliminate the Overview, move "licenses and certifications" to the top followed by Flight hours - that's what they want to know. Never had an interviewer go further than that before they set the resume down and started talking to me about well... me. For the love of all that is...
