WDD, good luck on the checkride. The only advice I can offer is take your time. I flew 3 approaches back to back at the same airport. Between the first and second approaches I almost blew it, as there wasn’t much time between them. After barely getting through the second approach successfully...

    PPL with Piper Arrow

I had 40 hours in a Cherokee 140 before buying an A36. Finished my PPL training in the Bo. Insurance was high, but still is. Figured the higher insurance was cheaper than trading up in planes 2-3 times. I have a tendancy to buy high and sell cheap. i am at 500-550 hours now and training for...

    Excuses

My plane was in an airport 1-1/2 hours away for service but it was still flyable. I asked my wife if she wanted to drive there, and fly back to our home town for dinner. She said no, but I would have.

Gregory i have no regrets. It is not cheap but well worth the cost, at least to me. Advice to buy? Buy your last plane first. When I started looking cost of insurance was a big factor. Ultimately I decided paying a higher insurance premium was more cost effective than trading up 2-3 times

Gregory. More to see after of course but I found the transition pretty easy actually. As others have said as long as you are ahead of the aircraft. When things do go bad they multiply in a hurry. Bonanza is all about the numbers. Well maybe all planes are?? The plane is stabile and handles...

I took my first lesson 10-13-18. Got my PPL 9-11-19. So I’ve Been at this almost 2 years. I just traded my 1999 Bo for a 2010 G36. I love the G1000. I am justa few weeks out from obtaining my IFR rating. I lack ground school test and 14 hours simulated. I will say I think the IFR rating is...

the "not worthy of it's own thread" thread

My plane was in the shop at KPAH a few weeks ago. 1-1/2 hour drive from our house. Our home airport KUCY is 30 minutes away. My wife was fussing we had no plane and couldn’t fly anywhere for lunch one Sunday. I suggested we drive to KPAH and get the plane out since it was still air worthy and...

    Polarized or not?

Forums crack me up. Polarized or non polarized? Pretty simple question eh? But it turns into arguments and disagreements. Imagine if it was a question of low wings vs high wings

I flew into Ocala (KOCF) yesterday. It is a class D. About 15 miles out I saw a small Cessna ahead of me at the same altitude, so I did a 360 to give us some separation. Two other foreign speaking tents called in 10 miles North West wanting to do T&Gs. I then radioed my position and intentions...

Holy Ego Check... DME Arcs and VOR Holds

    Who else loves short field???

Sazzy..Try short field this way for the naysayers. A plane is nearing its destination. The pilot turns to his co-pilot and remarks: "That looks like a really short runway." The co-pilot looks at it and says: "Yes, captain, its really short." 100 meters from the runway, the pilot communicates to...

Why? The high cost of flying..

In 1948 people were eating cornbread and white beans. Today we call up pizza delivery or fly for a $100 burger. Dunno about ya’ll but I cant fly and get a burger for $100. We’re all spoiled rotten
