CFII training in a Flight Training Device or ATD.

I do freelance instruction out of MKC, but I'll go to other airports around as needed. I work a full time non-aviation job, so I don't instruct a ton. I've had my CFI since 94 and graduated from a college flight school. I just never got my CFII. I'd like to refresh my IFR. Skills, but I'd...

CFII training in a Flight Training Device or ATD.

Thanks Ron. You are correct in that I am not seeking instruction in an FTD so I can teach in an FTD, although it would be a nice side benefit. I'm glad this was pointed out. I wasn't sure where to look. The biggest advantage is money saving for the rating.

CFII training in a Flight Training Device or ATD.

How much time can I spend in a Flight Training Device or ATD while working toward my CFII? I know there's no specific time requirement for the add-on rating, but could I, in theory, train in an FTD and then do the ride in an airplane? I'm not saying I would, but if I can do 5 hours in...

Flying Video: On Top of the World

That is awesome. I grew up in NW Indiana and flew around Chicago along the lake several times. I flew out of LaPorte, IN, KPPO (used to be 3LP) and one of my most memorable flights was taking my mom and stepdad up just after my Grandfather passed. We were on final to runway 20 around sunset...

By you, I meant all of you, or at least those debating low level flying. It was said in jest.

You almost scared me away from the message boards, but never flying!

So I take it you'd fly down the east side of LI, around the south end and then up the Hudson? That does sound like a cool flight.

How long does it take to go from Manhattan to BDR via train? Also, how long of a flight would it be from BDR down the Hudson and back?

    NYC visit and flight

I'm a part time CFI. I am just looking to have another CFI with me to do a dual flight down the Hudson. I'd prefer a 172, but I'm not set on that.

We won't have a car. I figured a 172 would be fine. That or a warrior, cirrus, etc. It will just be me and maybe my wife if I can convince her. She doesn't fly with me. Ugh.

    NYC visit and flight

My wife and I are thinking about a trip to New York in July and probably going to stay in Manhattan. Any recommendations for a flight school that we could do an aerial tour of the area? I don't want just a ride, I'd like to fly it with an instructor. Any recommendations on where to stay...
