    Costa Rica Vaction

Geico, I have been to Costa Rica four or five times in the last 15 years. Each time in my own plane. Costa Rica has changed their policy on tie down rates in the last few years. The last I heard a 24 hr. charge for ramp space was about $200.00 for any airplane regardless of size. I have...

    Palm Springs Aviation Expo

I was there on Friday and Saturday. Friday was sparse but Sat much better. Not many airplanes were on display but inside exhibits were OK. Hope to see it grow some next year. If people show up and bring their credit cards I am sure the show will continue to grow and be more interesting. As...

    New Stadium TFR?

Wild guess but I think they wanted to include UAVs.

    Denver area question

Have flown that route many times. Might suggest you jump over the hills and fly up on the west side. Many times a smoother ride. I am assuming you have some mountain experience and a plane of reasonable performance. Should be able to manage this w/o oxygen. BTW the military usually does not...

    Practicing Approaches in IMC

Petrolero, When Denver gets some "flyable IFR" file over to FTG and on the way tell the controller you want multiple approaches. BJC usually has more traffic than FTG but you can do an approach there then go onto Longmont and do one there. The big problem is having an airplane available and...

How safe do you think this guy is?

I normally do not comment on questions like this. Since I have no idea where he will be going and what the weather will be or what kind of an airplane he will be flying its impossible to do anything but speculate. He could start out and find the weather is too much, stop an rent a car. He...

Where to put the oxygen cylinder?

I would add these considerations. Mount the bottle where you cn see the gauge. you need to keep track of the remaining pressure. You also want to have access to the valve to turn it off and on. If you land and put the airplane away leaving the valve open you won't have any O2 on your next...

Will the 2020 ADS-B Mandate be Delayed?

I think 2020 is a drop dead date. FAA granted one delay to AOPA which moved the date to 2020 I think FAA and Congress are anxious to get the program moving. FAA has promised Congress an ATC that has much lower salary and pension costs. ADS-B is the first of several steps to realize a...

Do the FlightService / FlightWatch people get many calls?

I still use Flight Watch. Since XM became the rage it is a lot easier to reach a specialist and you get a lot more information. Usually I am IFR and do not want to chat but the specialists are not busy and seem to want to keep the conversation going. Next week will likely be busy for them if...

    Scuba Diving Destinations

I liked Roatan a whole bunch. Been there twice both times in a GA airplane. You might stop at Cozumel on the way back for some drift diving. Give Roatan a "google".

Loss in manifold pressure with altitude turbo 182

The waste gate needs to close totally. Hard to think of a way to check this at 10k except to to have CDT gauge. By watching the compressor discharge temp. You can tell if the waste gate is working properly. You might also check the throttle linkage to be sure it closing the waste gate. Good...

The Next Big Thing In General Aviation

Here is an aviation investment opportunity. The Mooney plant in Texas needs a new roof. I am sure you could work out a deal with the new owners. Might be a real contribution to GA.

    Malaysian Airliner missing?

Has anyone checked to see if the 777 owners have been making their payments. Who knows this maybe an aircraft repossession.

Normally aspirated motors at high altitudes

whistleblower, Your 210 will do ok up high but headwinds on the way out will likely have you flying in 10-14K range. Biggest tip I can give you is to be knowledgable about high density altitude takeoffs and landings. NA airplanes are leaned for takeoff and it is an art form that you need to...

    Mountain flying & radar services

I would guess that route, if you really fly the great circle and all the radars are working enroute the controllers would want you at around 16k. Would be a much better flight to stay north or south over the lower ground. Be sure to take O2 and plan to try this in good weather only.

    ATTN: Denver PoA gang

Big playoff game starts at 2:40 in Denver. Might be easier to find some pilots on Saturday.

Why is the WingX web site so horrible?

random, I have been a Anywhere user for many years. I started with an IPAQ and now using a Samsung Q1. I still use the Pro system and it meets my needs but I would not recommend Anywhere to anyone. Jay (owner) is not able to keep up. Since he does not charge a subscription he makes all his...

Is this mooney safe or is it to fast for its own good...

Pete, Over the years I have owned 2 M20Es and a TLS. I have about 3000hrs of Mooney time. I would not be concerned in the least about cruising in yellow. I have done it many times. Walt

Looking for a nut for my push to talk switch

I would suggest Ace Hardware or any hardware store for that matter. Ask a shop on the field. A small nut should not be hard to find.

    Question for other Instrument guys

If the airplane consistently heads to the left or right you might consider checking the aircraft rigging. One flap set 1d lower than the other could be causing the problem.
