    (very) short term insurance

Hey all - I'll be ferrying a newly acquired aircraft (Arrow II) back to Texas next weekend... the ultimate utilization for this aircraft will be a flying club, who carries their own insurance. I will need to get insurance coverage for the ferry flight, obviously. I have received quotes from...

    Alabama A&P references

Thanks a bunch.... Since it's Sunday I just sent an email over, but will reach them tomorrow. Thanks again! Adam

    Complete logs

Yeah I think for the specific example that I'll potentially be pursuing, since the last 37 years are accountable in the airframe log (1980-2017), I'm at least going to get my A&P to give me his opinion of the situation (missing date of manufacture 1976-1979). If he says that the traceability...

    Complete logs

Hey folks - in shopping for an aircraft I've noticed that, while most owners have all aircraft/engine/prop logs, some of the older aircraft have early years missing. Now, my intuitive take on this is that for a 1970's manufactured airplane, having the last 37 years of logs is 99.9% good, even...

    Alabama A&P references

Hey folks - I am close to making an initial offer on an Arrow II near Oxford, AL (KANB, hour east of Birmingham). I have an excellent network, but not that excellent. I would appreciate any A&P references anyone may have for that region, so that I can get a pre-buy inspection performed...

Plane purchase - prop strike question

Yeah I guess catch it at just the right time, full throttle, and go.

Plane purchase - prop strike question

As always, I appreciate the excellent feedback. Helps a relatively inexperienced aircraft buyer understand the situation, etc. For those who asked.... the pilot was feet from accidentally performing a gear-up landing and scraped the prop prior to the aircraft hitting the ground. He allegedly...

Plane purchase - prop strike question

Hey Team - I am in the process of aircraft shopping (Arrow or similar RG piston single). I have noticed some listings advertise prop strike inspections/overhauls. I dug into one particular Arrow for sale, and inspected engine logs. I guess my real question is, I'm sure people buy/sell...

    Hold/PT approach procedures

So if we don't utilize a common source of info/"regulations" (AIM for example), who determines whether to fly a course reversal or not? The pilot or controller? In other words, if the pilot decides it's in his/her best interest to fly a course reversal, what ensures that the controller is...

Did you perform the course reversal/hold?... :)

    Hold/PT approach procedures

Yep - same here. Plus as someone stated earlier, if she was to provide vectors to the final approach course, she'd have to vector me north a ways... otherwise I'd be cutting it in tight from where I was positioned.

    Hold/PT approach procedures

I would have definitely asked for straight-in if I was at a better angle. I'm wondering if the practice of straight-in without getting the actual clearance is a broadly accepted activity? (i.e. Pilot and controller not aware they are doing this against the allowed procedure).

    Hold/PT approach procedures

Sorry, I should add that I was 'cleared for RNAV 17 approach, maintain 4,000 until established....' about 5 miles from CIPEX.

    Hold/PT approach procedures

Thanks for quick reply guys. Yes I agree that best thing to do is get on same page with controller by asking/clarifying. I was flying the RNAV 17 in KGVT (LINK HERE). My route was KADS - TRISS - KGVT. I was cleared direct CIPEX from the general vicinity of TRISS, so I was on greater than 90...

    Hold/PT approach procedures

Hi all - I am having a discussion on another forum and wanted to get this message board's thoughts on the topic of hold-in-lieu (HILPT) procedures. Specifically, I was flying actual IMC yesterday and was given an RNAV approach clearance that, by the book, required me to perform the published...

    Home IFR training sims?

If you are using FSX with pilotedge, and a controller gives you direct to a fix or navaid that doesn't exist in FSX (since there have been a lot of navaid updates in 10 yrs), how do you handle? Or do they only use the navaids in the current version of FSX?

[rant, but not a great one]Engine auto shutoff disablement[/not great rant]

I had a hybrid that did the engine shut off thing as a rental, and it drove me nuts. I wonder if the starters fail early on those vehicles. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    PIREP Spirit Airlines

I think I remember Allegiant being in the news earlier this year regarding their shoddy maintenance practices. Maybe I'm mixing that up but I'm pretty sure I read it somewhere.

Anyone running XP11 beta with good performance, mind sharing your hardware specs? My relatively good system is also having issues running 11.
