    Hobbs or FF? Time question

    I'd say log what matches the regs. If you just want to log the higher number, then I can sell you a 2X stopwatch that will double your flight time. Actually I should develop a "flight timer" app where you can set your multiplier to use! I'll make millions...

    Hobbs or FF? Time question

    Foreflight is always artificially high for me. I’ve got in the habit of recording engine start time and stop time and calculating my time. Often foreflight is still logging quite a few minutes after the plane is off for me.

    Most Affordable Flying Club?

    Availability is great. I just checked the schedule for tomorrow and there is only one reservation on any of the planes. I’m honestly shocked at how little the planes fly. The club is limited to 50 members so that really helps but I feel like only about 20 people really fly. I have heard a...

    Most Affordable Flying Club?

    Nice! I really love tach time. I think it also helps to discourage “Full Rental Power”

    Most Affordable Flying Club?

    Im genuinely curious what the most affordable flying club around is. I learned to fly at a flight school in Atlanta. I then joined a club and thought I was getting a steal at $90/hr Hobbs for a 172/180. I moved to Knoxville Tn and joined a fairly affordable club at Skyranch, but recently...

    Visiting San Diego - Plane Rentals - Catalina Flight?

    I was just vacationing for the week. I did a 182 checkout with first flight and was told I could fly to Catalina if I wanted (but the runway was closed) They were really great about it and it was the best away from home flight/checkout I’ve done yet. No nonsense like I’ve experienced other places.

    Taildragger time!

    I just did my first tailwheel lesson in the champ last week. Initially I was actually overusing the rudder during steep turns and stalls. There is a lot of rudder authority and it did not require as much pressure/movement as I expected. It was a calm day and I did several 3 point landings in...

    Flying with a child

    Here is a link to a new carseat that came out that is FAA approved and very light and compact. It will likely even fit in a 150! I took my 4 year old up the other day in the 182 and it worked great. https://wayb.com/

    Want To Buy Lightspeed Thirty 3G Part

    I think this is a common issue on the older lightspeeds. I’ve got a 20xl and ended up taping the broken insulation. Heat shrink would be a better and more elegant solution. I’m guessing anyone with older 30-3GS Likely have the same problem too.

    non pilot taxing airplane

    When traveling for work I get paid for travel time and waiting at client sites even though I’m not directly working. As a CFI I would expect to be paid during the time I was with the student, including time spent filling up the plane. If we stopped for lunch somewhere I would stop the clock...

    So how crazy will the Osh arrivals be Saturday am even if weather is good? I’m planning on getting there early Saturday and it seems a lot of others are as well.

    Anyone switch foreflight <==> FlyQ?

    I never said I made sense!

    Anyone switch foreflight <==> FlyQ?

    In a sense I suppose you are correct. But I would argue that the Boeing acquisition was made possible by the changes in Foreflights direction. The acquisition led me to believe that that they will continue to devote more and more resources to corporate and less towards GA. I could very well...

    Anyone switch foreflight <==> FlyQ?

    Woah dude, chill a bit. I fully understand that foreflight is a business and I don’t fault them for their strategy. I’m happy you continue to like the direction they are going and I’m not trying to make anyone else’s decisions for them.

    Oshkosh - 2019

    I have a yeti 45 and was debating bringing it in the 182 due to its size. I’ll be solo so no real issue with space and W&B. How far away are the “ice stands” from the camping areas? This will be my first time at osh.

    Anyone switch foreflight <==> FlyQ?

    Boeing was the needle that broke the camels back in a sense. I did not love how FF kept coming out with new features in higher packages and kept trying to push people to upgrade. It felt like when they started out they were more GA friendly and were improving the base packages. I just felt...

    Anyone switch foreflight <==> FlyQ?

    I never quite got on board with the vector map on foreflight and still typically would use the sectional for VFR flying. The FAA did figure out a way to get a lot of useful information on that cluttered chart. I did really like the ability to tap something on the chart and get more info. Tap...
