    Interesting trade-a-plane post...

"Have Overloaded To 1250 Lbs, No Issue. Still Climbed At 500 Ft/Min. Can Land In Fields, Roads, Short Distances. Can Fly With Wings Iced Up, And Land In Snow No Problem." Oh men...

    Unique Flying Organization

I used to listen a lot to military atc when I lived close to an airbase; Once when a C130 returned the body of a soldier who died in Afghanistan home, the tower asked “how many persons on board?”.. pilot said “12 pob” and corrected this later to “sorry, 11 pob”. Pretty painfull.

Insurance (non) coverage of engine failure

I think you are right. I had the unlucky chance to have this tested in real. Due to a mechanical failure inside the engine it 'exploded' and splitted in 2, at 1200ft. I landed safely without any further damage. The insurance did not cover anything as it was only engine damage and the emergency...

Are grass runways/taxiways good or bad for landing gear?

Here we have a lot of grass runways, but the differences are hughe. You have the strengthened grass runways (up to 5700 kg!), almost feel like concrete. On the other side we have a meadow with some basic drainage, called an airport. That last one can be soggy and bouncy.. last week I landed on a...

This aircraft is really LOUD! I live under the approachpath of the 'General aviation' runway op Schiphol (Amsterdam)... when these arrive you can hear them approaching from FAR! From my house they are louder then all other private jets, even the newer 737s that fly overhead now and then.

    PPL certificate delayed?

As far as I know, when they change the issue date(in the database) they shipped it on that date.

Pilot and passenger lost in English Channel

Yes. When you fly at 1000ft over Calais (France, closest to UK) on a good day, you clearly see the coast of the UK. It looked amazingly close when I flew there this summer.

    Any PS-4 gamers here?

In Europe there are no big issues with the game (what I know..) and it is pretty fun, but hard in online multiplayer. They are releasing new content every now and then... for free.

Foreigner woman - Private pilot license

Welcome Marion. While planning my trip as Dutchie to the US to fly in April, I did watch a lot of videos on youtube. There are a lot of French foreigners going on 'flying holiday' just like Belgians, they have a pretty strong accent but they didn't seem to had any problem with communicating nor...

    Budget GoPro Cam?

I used it yesterday filming on the highest 4K setting, takeoff and 5 landings (filmed from downwind, stopped when 500ft again) and had 65% battery left.

    Budget GoPro Cam?

I had to really get used to it, I am used to the 4. It can be run from a battery pack without the battery inside the cam, works nice and long (26800mah batterypack).

    Budget GoPro Cam?

I use the Gopro Hero 4+, it is old now but I bought new and it is still working. Replaced recently the batteries with new ones, and a new memory card. I also have the Wi-Fi remote, but you can use your mobile phone too. You can film 25FPS in 2.7K and mount it on the passenger window to have...

    FAA Piggyback and government shutdown

I just finished the process this year. I only had to show up at the FSDO to validate my logbooks, passport, medical, flying license and some form(s). Furthermore I had a regular chat with the guy from the FAA, who was actually really friendly ;-). About English, I assume you have the LPE on...

    Laptop vs wine

Does the laptop have a CMOS battery on the motherboard? This holds date and BIOS setting information (on older systems). Maybe this got some wine and shorted.... Worth trying ? Most just have the CR2032 battery. Furthermore found this, maybe it helps...
