    SR22 vs Twin Comanche

Yeah, that's pretty much been my conclusion so far. I'm renting from a place that has two SR22s, availability is great and I can take a plane for as long as I want with no daily minimums or overnight fees. Kinda hard to beat that. If I owned I might end up flying more, but even then it would...

    SR22 vs Twin Comanche

Yeah, it's interesting to ponder. The parachute covers both engine failure and pilot incapacitation. For pilot incapacitation, the only source I found was this, which states that 3 out of 1,000 accidents, (and 15 out of 1,000 fatal accidents) were a result of pilot incapacitation. I couldn't...

    SR22 vs Twin Comanche

I hear you. It is kinda sad, however, that despite advances in aerodynamics and materials, we're still getting about the same speed from the same horsepower at the same fuel burn from today's airplanes that we got from those old airplanes 50-60 years ago. I'm ready for all those new diesels get...

    SR22 vs Twin Comanche

Asked and answered. Way too expensive for me.

    SR22 vs Twin Comanche

Yeah, I've got some 310 time, and I did love that airplane. I just assumed the maintenance would be considerably higher. Also the parachute has the advantage of a passenger being able to use it in the unlikely event of my incapacitation. And, if my wife does learn to fly, it would likely be...

    SR22 vs Twin Comanche

Ha, I should have expected a response like this. The "wife requirement" is a bit TIC. The 2-engine or parachute requirement is my "PIC decision" for my family. I'm happy to have a discussion about it, in a different thread. (A discussion which I'm sure has already been argued to death elsewhere.)

    SR22 vs Twin Comanche

Actually, I've seen a number that do have nice glass panels at that price. As for anti-ice, some twins in that range do have boots, but maybe not full FIKI. Keep in mind, to get an SR22 at $200k or below, it will have be a G1 or G2. So it might have TKS, but it won't be FIKI. Would have to get a...

    SR22 vs Twin Comanche

Either would be a stretch on my own, to be honest. I'm considering a partnership with a colleague or two with similar needs.

    SR22 vs Twin Comanche

Hi all, I'm an airline pilot with a GA background, considering an airplane purchase for family trips. Wife is somewhat nervous when flying on "little airplanes," wants either 2 engines or a parachute. (I'm quite familiar with the engine-out characteristics of light twins, having been an...

Cushion to adapt headset for kid?

It's an off-brand. This one, which is actually quite impressive! However, the headband is integral to the design, not something that could be swapped out. The wash rag did cross my mind! Hadn't thought about the pool noodle, could work. That or pipe insulation!

Cushion to adapt headset for kid?

I've got a lightweight headset for my 5-year old, but even at the smallest setting, the headband is a bit big for her cute little head. I was thinking I could find a nice pillowy cushion for the headband which would make the ear cups sit higher for a better fit. But most of the headband cushions...

    In ear headset question

I emailed them weeks ago. No response. It's already been posted by others that he no longer maintains a waiting list. No idea if/when he'll ever start selling them again. Moving on.

    In ear headset question

Yeah, unfortunately wanting them and getting them are too different things.:( For those of us who can't wait around indefinitely, we need to consider other options.

    In ear headset question

Has anyone tried the UFQ L-1 headset? It's kind of a cheap ($200) Chinese knockoff of the CA or QT in-ear sets. Company is U Fly Quiet, no relation to U Fly Mike, I don't think. Claims to be as quiet as ANR sets. Says 29 db reduction, which is on the low end of the range CA quotes. Not sure if...
