    Carrier landing in an emergency?

I suspect you will be on the receiving end of a 50 Cal as you approach the deck.

    Monthly VOR checks

You made this post: So I said Correct. It can be on a notepad, a roll of Charmin, a small note pad in the glove box, a sticky note on the glare shield, back of a business card in your billfold, etc, etc Again, pilots are trying to read too much into very simple regulations.

    Carrier landing in an emergency?

I would assume the Navy doesn't want you fouling their carrier deck with your wreckage, nor would they care to have you bouncing into a multi million dollar aircraft. I would venture to say they would have you ditch nearby and let the Angel helo come pick you up.

    Another nail in the coffin....

It is. People won't be happy until the FAA initiates a process of going to the Post Office, fill out a card and hand it in and be issued a pilot's license. Then they will complain about going to the Post Office to do it.....

    Another nail in the coffin....

The FAA can only do what is in their budget. If congress mandates the agency to do something, then congress has to allocate the funding. Without the funding, the DOT and FAA cannot comply.

    Monthly VOR checks

For IFR operations it must be "logged" (written down somewhere)

    Monthly VOR checks

Where does it state an entry must be made in a maintenance log? :dunno:

    I declared an emergency today

Of course the "former participant" used it as a badge of courage and constantly gloated "it wasn't a big deal". Having to declare an emergency in the case of the OP will not result in a 44709, period.

    I declared an emergency today

A vast majority of control cables in GA aircraft go years without maintenance. The internal lubrication not only lubricates but also displaces moisture. Something to think about.

    I declared an emergency today

There's a difference here. The OP had a situation (fuel related), declared, got priority handling and landed non eventful.

    I declared an emergency today

It's not uncommon for these type of cables to go years without being lubricated or adjusted.

New FAA Student Pilot Rules? WTF?

And the FAA keeps going through CR's that don't include funding for various projects.

New FAA Student Pilot Rules? WTF?

Lack of funding was the primary reason.

    I declared an emergency today

Lack of lubrication and moisture in the cable housing more than likely.

    Another nail in the coffin....

Yep. While those who will proclaim "It's the FAA's fault!" little do they realize this is all coming from Congress. And come November the complainers will blindly go re-elect their incumbent Congress person and still not understand why these changes keep happening.
