Cessna 414 down near John Wayne - 5 Dead

That wasn’t my point. The point is people would get used to it just like they did with etops. Years ago many wanted four engines or they wouldn’t get on. The Cessna caravan is used a a airliner, one engine.

    Searey Flight

We had a searey in KIMM, the guy broke the gear on landing, got it fixed, took off and landed 40 miles away then on takeoff put it in the trees. He blamed both the gear screwup and the tree incident on the airplane. It wasn’t the airplane. I spoke to this guy, a lawyer, he was a I know it all I...

    Airline Disengenuousness

Most airlines are ALPA. AA has it’s own union. It’s called a seniority list, get used to it. Your prior experience got you hired, you don’t get to jump the line because you think you’re special.

    Airline Disengenuousness

The airlines ain’t what they used to be. My first job was with Braniff, it was like a big family. AA was like being a cog in a uncaring cold machine run by bean counters that couldn’t care less about aviation, to them it’s just another business.

    Advice on earning flight hours

Buy a cheap slow airplane and fly. You can always sell it when you outgrow it. It gets boring but that’s what it takes. No agency is going to want a low time volunteer. Just don’t do what I witnessed Dean students doing (yeah that Dean in FL) sitting in a tied down airplane running up the Hobbs...

    Aircraft Paint Types

I’ve seen engine mounts that were power coated and looked great, but when they were stripped for crack inspection they were heavily corroded. The power coat was just floating above the metal, presumably a crack formed somewhere and let the environment in. Powder coat can hide some bad things...

    Aircraft Paint Types

If aluminum temp exceeds that of boiling water the heat treat is compromised. Powder coating temps are well above that. Also powder coating is great for hiding defects in the material it covers. The guys at VAF seem to be obsessed with powder coating everything.
