Taking my daughter flying for the first time this weekend

It was a success! I'll spare you the long story about how the plane we were supposed to fly today was broken too, so we ended up going with the one I flew yesterday and had problems with the radio not transmitting (flew yesterday to brush up, it had been 2.5 months since I flew that type and...

Taking my daughter flying for the first time this weekend

Well I gotta say I knew it would happen... Got a call yesterday saying someone made a hard landing in the 172 I rent and broke the nose gear. I KNEW something would happen to the plane... I have a 4 day window to make this happen, the first day we had 30-40 mph winds, today was windy but not...

Annual, repair and maintenance on an M20F

So some clown ran into your airplane on the ramp and stuck you with the bill to get it airworthy AND the higher insurance premiums? There's no way I could do that to someone.

Taking my daughter flying for the first time this weekend

I guess since they are your fondest memories you answered my question... I'm just hope if she grows up doing it she doesn't take it for granted. I always dreamed about aviation when I was a kid. Loved flying commercial jets, got a sightseeing ride in a helicopter once and a Cessna once, but...

Taking my daughter flying for the first time this weekend

Will definitely get first flight pics. Her puppy got a ride last year when I took a trip to see an old friend.

Taking my daughter flying for the first time this weekend

She's 4 1/2, really wants to go with me every time I go but my wife hates flying and I want to have someone else with us for her first time. My folks will be in town this weekend so as long as the weather is good and the plane is good (us poors have to rent :() we're going to give it a go! I'm...

Flight following and Class Charlie airspace

Thanks for the replies, I hope I didn't hijack the thread but I thought it was kind of in topic. I have definitely heard "cleared into the class bravo surface area" from the controllers here in Houston, I guess since they were being SO specific in saying that he assumed the clearance excluded...

Flight following and Class Charlie airspace

Here's a question for ya that's kind of related. The airports I fly out of are under a class B shelf. I often hear while on flight following "cleared into the class bravo surface area." And of course sometimes just "cleared into the class bravo." I was flying with an instructor recently to...

Where's your go-to place to fly?

My favorite when I lived in TN was KSIK, Sikeston, MO. Land and park the plane then call Lambert's Cafe and they send a van out to pick you up. At Lambert's they are constantly bringing around food to scoop onto your plate and they throw the dinner rolls to you from across the dining room.

    flashlights for cockpit

This streamlight rides in my pocket at all times and gets used every day. I've had this one a couple years, and the one I had before this one was the same model, it was even more beat up and I carried that one every day for about 7 years. I only replaced it because I lost it, not because it...

Ugh. My daughter is almost 4 and hadn't flown yet, but if she's not into flying when she's old enough I'll be crushed :sigh:

    Carbon Monoxide in the Cabin

The sentry I think is what the instructor had. So, what is the consensus on acceptable CO limits in flight? I understand altitude plays a part in it, but if I'm flying along at say 6,000 feet or less, at what point should I be thinking about landing?

    Carbon Monoxide in the Cabin

Thanks. I'm pretty sure they won't let me get in there with a tube of RTV, and would look at me like I'm an idiot if I asked them to do it. So I'll probably scratch that plane off my list and go to Plan B for my trip coming up.

    Carbon Monoxide in the Cabin

Thanks for the link! Edit: I watched the video in that link about the guy who woke up in a field in his wrecked Mooney, and I ordered a sensorcon. Some guys in that thread were saying it's $111 with promo code Aircraft2021, but I used the code and now it's actually $103.20. Thanks again!

    Carbon Monoxide in the Cabin

I was doing my BFR the other day in a rented Cessna 150. We were enroute to the area where we were going to do the maneuvers, so we hadn't done any stalls, slow flight, any of that yet. All we did was take off, climb out, and we put the hammer down at a blistering 90 knots, because hey I don't...
