5 related adults dead in Cessna 340 crash

Don’t they ask about your flying abilities or additional risks flying on small aircraft with a non professional pilot? I happen to tell my passengers that flying GA is inherently much more dangerous than flying with airlines. I tell them I will do everything in my power to mitigate some of the...

    SR22 vs Twin Comanche

Part of the reason is the completely integrated flight deck, with autopilot, etc - avionics tend to add lot of value, I would say it is at least $100 K extra.

5 related adults dead in Cessna 340 crash

Wonder what your “experience” with the ground fog is, mine is clearly different, I am yet to see a true 0-0 conditions, that would mean I could not see my extended palm of hand, never saw anything even close, you get to see 100-200 ft in the worst conditions. 5 related adults dead in Cessna 340 crash

And when Dr Richard Rockefeller perished in a very similar crash 2 years ago we barely had 5 (very brief) replies in the thread - and what's the difference - he was a lone victim and it wasn't around Christmas holidays.

Diamond Aircraft is now 100% owned by a Chinese company

Aren't Cirrus and Mooney also owned by Chinese?

5 related adults dead in Cessna 340 crash

Possible but highly unlikely, the odds are against any multiple failures like that, specially in a flight that lasts only seconds. A simple distraction so close to the ground - and you can be doomed. But like someone said above - there are overwhelming odds it was a case of somatogravic...

Fine, believe what you want, I found Cirrus even more ‘boring’ and I stick with it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

No, I stand by all my statements, our experiences clearly differ. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

Who says - I say, in a Skyhawk without wings level during a stall you are bound to have an altitude loss during recovery, more then you care for. Anyway, nothing of the sort happens in a Cirrus, much better flying platform, IMHO of course. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

    After a long hiatus

No matter how much right rudder I could never perform a stable wings-level stall in the Skyhawk - no problem in a Cirrus. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

    After a long hiatus

By the way - this is standard procedure, instructors are not 'afraid' of stalls - they just want to recognize the onset of a stall and recover immediately. BTW, I always hated stalls in my past training, I really could not keep wings level in a 172 so the end result was I would get into a...

    After a long hiatus

You are a very similar case to mine - last logbook entry in 1995 (mostly 172, Warrior, Archer). I returned to flying because I can now easily afford it - but I returned with concrete goals in mind - I want to fly a glass cockpit Cirrus (rental accessible where I live) and complete my unfinished...

5 related adults dead in Cessna 340 crash

Exactly same here, when I tried this using the DG for takeoff - found it difficult to stay within runway bounds - told my CFII I would never attempt such takeoff for real, but if this guy had some visibility - say 1000 ft (< 1/4 m)- I (probably) would have no problem taking off if IFR current...

5 related adults dead in Cessna 340 crash

Pilots lose control of aircraft when they fly into a fog and this happens to even experienced IFR pilots. Case in point - Dr. Richard Rockefeller flew his Piper Meridian in 2015 immediately after takeoff into heavy fog and crashed, the flight wasn’t even airborne a minute. He was a fairly...

5 related adults dead in Cessna 340 crash

5 closely related adults, some fairly young, perished in Cessna 340 crash today. The aircraft took off from Bartow, FL and flew into heavy fog soon after takeoff, their destination was Key West. The visibility in the area was reported at less than 1/4 m...

    Trip to MAMMOTH LAKES, CA.

Right now or in general? I have season pass at Mount Rose and already skied this November but snow is getting a bit problematic again. I visited Mammoth last year - awesome mountain where you can ski above timber line but Tahoe (Incline Village) is really where my heart is. To amoel: to go from...

Seriously Apple, slowing down older iphones?

And that's just perfect, that's the whole point. If you guys have some urge to keep upgrading, be my guest and continue to ***** and moan, you are making companies rich.

Seriously Apple, slowing down older iphones?

Sorry, I don't believe these conspiracies. I happen to have Iphone 5 which works just fine for me, I haven't seen any software update for a very long time, I guess my hardware is old enough no more update will be forthcoming which is fine too. I just pressed "software update" and got reply that...

Purchase Cessna 172? Best CFI in Jacksonville, FL

So keep researching. Unless you are a committed pilot (at this point you aren't even a pilot) who will fly a lot your purchase may not bring you any cost-savings you dream of.
