    Accidents

Hmmm... based on the number of posts titled "Jet Blue on CNN right now" and "turn on your TV" I'd say we got it covered.

    N/A Comprehensive 0r Collision?

In my experience anytime an insurance company pays and can't subrogate you end up screwed in the end. I find I'm financially better off in the long run fixing (or ignoring) parking lot dings myself. Just curious, what does $500 damage look like these days?

    Suggestion about idle car

I tried this, and ruined a set of fuel injectors. I put the rest in my 8N tractor with no problems except that it ran terrible. Put it in an old, low-compression engine that already smokes a lot. Find someone with a Model T.

    A Kansas jaunt

Would that be the constant-speed prop version? Flew one out west; it was sweet but had sticky aileron cables. But it sure did climb:D

    January Ride

We had too much snow to ride motorcycles, so I got this out. I didn't want to get my CL450 Scrambler dirty. (Hope the pic shows)

    First Solo!

I was a lot less nervous watching that Cessna go around the pattern than watching his truck leave the driveway. And then there's #2 son not too far behind:hairraise:

    What can I do?

The more you try to explain, the more blank looks you get. For some reason people trust some guy on TV more than an actual pilot. However, a few people have quietly asked, "how long does it take to get (here or there). I just tell them, "figure 120 mph as the crow flies", and watch them smile.

    First Solo!

Not mine, that was 12 years ago. My oldest son soloed today, just after his 16th birthday. The instructor told him "do three for me, then as many as you want after that". I lost count at six landings. He now has more solo time in the plane than he does in his truck.

One less reason to fly United

Try pulling out charts over familiar territory:D

One less reason to fly United

Once on UAL during a bumpy flight (with the crew negotiating for an altitude change) channel 9 suddenly went silent, then came back up with a hockey game. I found out later that my seatmate had requested the local sporting event and the crew complied by putting the local AM station on channel 9.

    Windy!!

I remember the winds out there (learned at 2V2). Thought the house was going to blow away. Yikes!

    Aircraft Terrorism Insurance

My owners' policy has a terrorism rider which was $10.00 a year, which they stated was to cover the remote chance that someone was successful thawing and getting the hangar door open, figuring out the preheater, and making it to the runway amidst the snowdrifts.

Planes in trouble make for good TV

Unfortunately (?) most of the time I am not glued to the TV all day, I am working, so I miss most of this excellent and accurate "reporting". But my co-workers know I'm a pilot so there's plenty of water-cooler chitchat the next day.

I need to find some pilot friends.

Yep that's D95. You other Michigan folks should check out our new ramps. Maybe we'll have our pancake breakfast next year?

    Safety...Hipocrit to Aviation?

Yes I do, but the more profound thoughts occur when I wake up in the middle of the night and remember something I didn't think of in the post flight briefing.

Idiot pilot, why insurance rates are so high!

Of course they will always get their money. They are for-profit organizations. And the demand for frivolous lawsuits drives the supply, because everyone wants to be rich. Insurance will never substitute for good judgement. At our airport if you taxi like that someone will talk to you about it...

I need to find some pilot friends.

Missa, Did you by chance take your checkride up this way, over the summer?

I need to find some pilot friends.

I'm in the same boat. But designated drivers always get free sodas! Hanging around the airport is OK but that gets old too. Nothing like flying with friends. Look me up if you're in the Michigan (Flint) area. Tom

Cessna lands on freeway near Detroit

I'm not sure it went to DTW either, but it should be easier to get there with the wings on. Trying to get to Ypsilanti from there would be interesting. Then again, reporting is subject to error. Second time this year they've "flatbedded" an airplane around here. Oops should've read your...
