    Too high

You know, I can't say I ever heard or considered that. Makes complete sense, thanks for the tip!

    Too high

If I err, I generally err on the high side. Since I've started landing at 50F, though, I've really had my moments. There's a big hill at the approach end of 35, and it's really unnerving to be on glide slope and see how close you are to the ground. The first time I arrived at night and you...

Dallas Area meet-up Sat 2/25 at MEXIA (KLXY)

I'm probably out. Looks like I won't be able to be wheels up until 10:30 or 11:00.

    Landing on every runway (1 - 36)

Most every runway around here is 14/32, 16/34, or 17/35. Just went up to OKC this week. KHSD is published as 35 but painted 36. Can I claim both for that one?

Great new series on PBS - "City In The Sky"

I've only seen part of Ep 1, but that Dubai baggage system was amazing.

    any piper fans out there?

Check your useful load, too. A Cherokee 180 is a good 4 place plane, but I don't think the STC to put in the O-360 comes with a GW increase. At least it didn't for my Cherokee 140. My 1966 Cherokee 140 was a trainer at a aviation university, and it only has 9000 hours. 12k hours in 30 years...

I wrote a "What Plane For My Mission" App

Wow, I didn't know you were there!

Is it smart to buy a plane right now?

Interesting. What kinds of planes were these?

I wrote a "What Plane For My Mission" App

That's pretty slick. Do you want performance data sent to you, or will you have a way for us to enter it? I'm running around in my stock Cherokee 140 without pants (infer what you may), but I know another guy on here has a 140 with speed mods and is getting an extra 15kts from his plane. You...

    Strega for sale

This summer my son went to the Aviation Challenge Camp in Huntsville, right next to Space Camp. At the end, they do a lunch with the families where an astronaut comes to talk to everyone. "Hoot" Gibson was the guy this time. Before the presentation, he was wandering around with his lunch...

    [NA] Bad Week [NA]

I've only met @Ravioli in person the one time, but from what I recall he could stand to eat a cheeseburger or two to catch up with some of the rest of us.

Naughty Frogs Up Past their Bedtime

You know, I had a dream I was floating around just like that last night. Except it was in the day. And I was floating in the air, not the water. Oh, and I was in a PC-12 ... but otherwise it was EXACTLY like that.

Mind if I ask what's in the bins? Seems like some serious organizing going on there.

    [NA rant] Lies for resumes

Doing IT services for SMBs. Really focusing on managed services and information security. There are a ton of companies that are touting security, then when I ask what they do, their response is something like "Well, we put Webroot on the PCs and a Linksys firewall." So, yeah ... there's...

    [NA rant] Lies for resumes

Man, the whole job search world doesn't make any sense to me. In July, we had a change in the C-suite, so senior management (VP of IT and the Director of IT - me) were whacked. Started looking around for positions and ran into the same crap. It didn't take me long to remember how much I hated...

    Dallas Area meet-up Sat 1/28?

I am a definite maybe for this. Got some kids' events to work around, and have some family coming to to town. But I've ended my self-imposed hiatus and am ready to do some flying.

I heard the Skymaster Growl today

I can discern a few different planes around here. I can generally tell the F-16s from the F-18s, and the C-130 is the only 4 engine TP around here. But the most discernable plane I've heard is the S-3 Viking. I can hear that hoover from miles away.

Which would you choose? Support your answer

Ok, I had to get a little chuckle when I went to the Indy Air site and saw this for the Cheetah. It seems to be a conspiracy.
