    Best video cameras for aviation?

The difference in image quality between the VIRB and the GoPro is due to the VIRB's prop filter, which reduces contrast and color saturation. However, it also eliminates the prop effect, which I think is worth it. I've never had any problems with the overlays and I think they're pretty cool.

    Best video cameras for aviation?

+1. I've been using the Garmin Virb XE (purchased with the aviation bundle) and couldn't be happier. Its prop filter renders the prop nearly invisible, and when I have it plugged into ship power it will record for hours on end. OP, you may also want to research the 360-degree cameras that are...

    Web Browser Home Page(s)

I've created an elaborate home page on igHome.com with categorized links to all my favorite sites. Categories include News, Work, Aviation, etc. igHome lets you create multiple tabs, so I created an additional tab showing the weather reports and webcams for my primary and secondary residences.

    Positive ATC Stories

In 31 years of flying I can barely count on one hand the negative experiences I've had with ATC. I've always found them to be consummate professionals.

    Gorgeous weekend behind us?

Flew my RV-8 around town and along the Front Range. It was glorious. Here's Denver from the southwest corner of town. Homes along the foothills. Boulder Municipal Airport (KBDE), with the Flatirons in the background. Coors brewery. Flyby of the Flatirons. Great time of the...

NOAA Hurricane Hunters fly into the eye of Matthew

When I was growing up in the 70's my good friend's dad flew as captain for these missions. He was gone all during hurricane season, and when he returned we would watch a slide show of his amazing eyewall and eye photos.

how long did it take you to get your tw rating?

I've logged just over 100 landings in my RV, and while some have been better than others, I haven't had any violent bounces, loss of directional control or need to go around. I'm sure I'll bomb some in the future, but so far so good. The extra instruction really helped.

how long did it take you to get your tw rating?

I got my TW endorsement after 2 hours of ground instruction and about 6 hours of dual in a Super Decathlon. However, I received the instruction at John Wayne Airport in SoCal, and we had little or no wind, and what wind there was was blowing right down the runway, so I didn't feel like I was...

    Frank Lloyd Wright-designed pilots lounge

A few years ago my dad and I were attending a sales meeting at the Arizona Biltmore hotel. At the time I was under the mistaken impression that Frank Lloyd Wright was the architect, which is actually a common misconception. Anyway, my dad, who grew up in the projects in Buffalo, NY, was...
