    Flying with/without your significant other

The wife’s hobby is touring historical homes.. her bible is the National Geographic Guide to America’s Great Houses. She picks the destination and I/we get to fly! Win-Win! She doesn’t enjoy just tooling around, but if there is a destination, she’s ready! No real desire to fly, but is...

    I guess I'm a "real" pilot now?

Excellent! Nothing wrong with finding that "unicorn"!! Good story on the training, so how does this all end and what the final outcome?

    Stratus/Stratux question

My Stratux seems to work best with a suction cup mount on the rear window of my Cherokee. Didn't like it sitting on the glare shield, although it worked there fine.

    Need a ruling on lunch...

I think you are stuck with a dilemma that is based on definitions. Where is it defined that "lunch" has to be at a specific time or place? Really doesn't matter in the big scheme of things where or when you eat - we just do. If you are willing to ignore standard norms and definitions, there...

    Katamarino's Round the World flight

What a wonderful thread and quite the journey! Thanks for taking the time to post all this. 53H looks pretty good sitting in the hangar next to the Falcon - sort of just "belongs" there!!

How long before I die of CO poisoning?

Would agree with that - incomplete combustion over time. Interesting thought problem and not as easy as it sounds. Would suspect that levels of CO would reach “loss of consciousness “ before the reduction on available O2 would increase CO production.

How long before I die of CO poisoning?

What is the displacement of the engine powering the generator and at what RPM does it run? 4-cycle engine? CO emissions are likely to be on the order of 2-5% on a volume basis, but that can vary quite a bit.

    Do plastic owls work?

In your case Adam, a few well placed foam plugs would work far better!

    Warrenton-Fauquier (KHWY)

Just a plug for the folks at Warrenton. Nice facility, excellent service and VERY friendly! Very nice crew car (which they were happy to hold for us) and a very pretty area of the country. Brian and David went out of their way to make this a wonderful experience.

    POA Movie thread

Set up to see this on Thursday! Sounds excellent and goes along with a book I’m reading - Masters of the Air. https://www.amazon.com/Masters-Air-Americas-Against-Germany/dp/0743235452/ref=nodl_

    ADS-B Questions

Interesting.... my Skybeacon equipped Cherokee flights do show up on FlightAware if I search for my tail number. Certainly was not on flight following for them.

Best Beach Houses near a GA Airport in North Carolina

Agree with you on that. We've explored the barrier islands from Virginia Beach to Emerald Isle and the Hatteras/Frisco/Ocracoke area is the best. But then again, we are going for the beach, not the amenities.

Best Beach Houses near a GA Airport in North Carolina

That’s good to know. We really like the Frisco beach and have rented a numer of properties along Robin Lane. The issue with the area is transportation once there. Unlike Ocracoke (where you really don’t need a car and can rent a golf cart), the Frisco area requires a car to get to the...

    Thoughts on a Cherokee 140 as a learner & 1st plane

Mize well throw my two cents in as well! Bought my '67 140 (S/N 28-23251) in March 2000. First and only plane. Often think about bigger and faster but seem to always end up sticking with what I got (I can afford to keep it!). Been a joy to own, reliable, simple systems, easy parts...

Well it was a good (almost) 10 years.

WOW Ed! That's a huge change! I'm sorry to hear of the sale, are you giving up flying in total, or just looking for a more private way of traveling? Understand your point of potentially being "tracked" at all times, although I'm not convinced it is as bad as you think.

    CT/Southern MA/Eastern NY Pilots?

Been there many times, one of my favorite spots! Seating is limited, so expect a wait if prime time. They do have outside picnic tables when the weather is nice. Good view of the Delaware Water Gap and hiking/biking trail that runs right next to the parking area. Just a small, fairly active...
