    High Time Cessna Wings

Yes, smooth air and gentle maneuvers produce little metal fatigue but rough air and high G maneuvers produce a lot.

    Propeller windmilling, the truth

All flying might be considered expensive but testing is no more expensive that just flying around. Testing does require thinking and some effort but is not that difficult. You can measure the the true glide ratio for YOUR plane by climbing to a safe altitude in very calm air (early morning over...

Do You Carry a Spare Tire and Tube All the Time?

Clearly you are a city boy. As a country hick I do nearly ALL my mechanical work including major overhauls.

    Propeller windmilling, the truth

I don't follow. POH best glide speed assumes prop windmilling with prop blades aligned as much as possible into the relative wind. However; to stop the prop I had to slow to almost stall. Once the prop stopped you can increase glide speed somewhat, hopefully, to a new best glide speed. If...

Do You Carry a Spare Tire and Tube All the Time?

Those old truck size rims were extremely dangerous as the rim ring would fly off when inflating. I personally know someone that was hit in the head in a tire shop. His mind was never quite right afterwards. Fortunately they are now illegal.

Do You Carry a Spare Tire and Tube All the Time?

Nice solution and if no big C clamps you can use your auto scissor or hydraulic jack to push down.

Do You Carry a Spare Tire and Tube All the Time?

I usually carry a spare older tube but you can use a garden store tube in an emergency. The inflation stem is at a different angle but you can stretch it into the needed position.

    O2 saturation at altitude

Altitude tolerance varies enormously. Ed Viesturs has summited all 14 of the worlds highest peaks WITHOUT supplemental oxygen. I have spoken with him and his intelligence seems quite normal.

    Propeller windmilling, the truth

You will have oil pressure to turn the blades to stop the prop position as the plane then needs to be flown very close to stall speed AFTER reaching said position. IOW FIRST you change the prop pitch and THEN you slow the plane down.

    Securing an Oxygen Cylinder

My 40 cubic foot tank of my DIY system fits perfectly between the front seats of my of my 1964 c-210. No need for more securing.

    Propeller windmilling, the truth

One test is worth a thousand opinions so if you can stop the prop try both ways is very calm air. Repeat several times to be sure.

Thoughts on Progressive Lenses For Flying

I would never use anything else. The Costco brand is perfect for me. Been using them for30 years.

Aircraft and parts prices out of control

Assuming anyone understands correct English he probably CAN produce many simple parts. Whether he MAY legally do so is another issue.

Aircraft and parts prices out of control

My 1964 Cessna 210D sold new for about $25k. Adjusted for the Feds deliberate money debasement this plane should sell for about $170,000. This is not a typo!

In-air oil changes? What?! How did they do it?

Since the latest engines have oil filters one might think that they are essential but really are not. My Conti IO-520a Just has a fine screen which seems to be all that is needed. In fact it isn't even essential since its main purpose is to warn if the engine is generating metal particles. I...

In-air oil changes? What?! How did they do it?

I really wonder if oil changes in the usual sense are even needed. Just keep adding fresh oil as the crankcase oil is consumed and sent out the exhaust pipe. IOW a continuous oil change. Should you want a greater rate of "oil change" then simply connect a hose with a valve to the oil drain and...

    Paint problems

Blending touch up paint is standard practice and almost mandatory with metallics. An automotive how to paint manual will explain a lot but blending means painting in concentric circles with ever more thinned out paint as you move outward. Also you can often look through a paint chip book at an...

    G100UL unleaded avgas approved

The best substitute for 100LL is 100LL. Not that long ago ALL fuel was leaded and Homo Sapiens survived quite well but now that only a tiny portion has lead it's the end of life as we now it.

Using a 12 V battery charger as a power supply

I have used a 12 volt automotive charger with a battery many times to power radios. Never a problem. Radios also have internal voltage regulation. I do feel sorry for owners stuck with those ridiculous 24 volt systems.
