    Hanger Rash............. OUCH!

Thats what I was wondering, sounds like the hangar owner will be on the hook for a lot of cash. Thats why they sell hangars keepers insurance. Cant have enough if you rent a hangar for planes like those.

Help me determine how much insurance to get. ...please

I would say go ahead and get it for your peace of mind. It is sort of a pointless policy to buy with not much benefits, as with most aircraft policies if there was a claim no matter what the cause the insurance company can always find you negligent for what ever reason and refuse the claim anyways.

Gear goes down half way... then stops

I had a arrow come into the shop years ago with the opposite problem, his gear would stop half way up.I checked everything and found it to be a broken wire on the gear leg inside the wiring harness going to the ground safety switch and when the gear would go up it would disconnect the switch...

Tie down rope material advice request

My guess would be they dont the liability of the planes parked on the ramp. The last airport I was at that discouraged tieing down also had a sign on the ramp that said "tie down at your own risk, the airport X is not responsible for loss or damage to aircraft" There was one airport I landed...

Tie down rope material advice request

I use the 1/2 nylon rope too, and carry a set with me on trips. The nylon seems to do well and dosnt deteriorate as fast as some other ropes. You might make sure your destination airport allows tie downs, Ive been to a few airports that dont allow planes to be tied down.

    Advice on finding A/P work...

It has been my experience that most shops will not keep you on for long when work slows, and it seems that the work loads are always fluctuating in this business. Most shops will do lay offs based on seniority, but others it wont matter how long you have been there. I had one A&P job lasted 4...

    Advice on finding A/P work...

You will likely have to be able to relocate if you want constant work until you get a few years experience, then you will have more options on locations. I had to move out of state to find employment when I got my A&P, then more options became available as I gained experience. Also be prepared...

Can AP mechanics work on single engine aircrafts and Airline planes?

Thats about the average wage for a A&P mechanic. Ive never made anymore than that during the years i was able to stay employed at one location, though I dont think that salary would support a C182 very well. My bank would not lend me the money to buy a plane with that salary until I started my...

    A&P-IAs

This is ever so true. Ive always done very through annuals and when a owner comes along that only flies on perfect VFR days wanting a "paper annual" I have to tell them them I cannot help them. Ive lost a few customers with that policy, but I dont want to deal with the aftermath of those "paper...
