    What became of Diamond aircraft?

I agree 100% with all the points made by @dmloftus. Regarding the DA40 as a traveling machine, I've flown mine more than 2500 hours in the past 7 years, including four international adventures each of >8000 miles.

    G1000 Updating Procedure

I update my DA40/G1000 exactly as Mark describes. Once I bring the NAV card home, I upload the "data log" files (flights since the previous month) to Savvymx.com for a comprehensive analysis of engine performance. Wayne

Newbie question Re: Electronic Checklist and/or Training Apps

The ForeFlight app has you covered for an e-Checklist, and much much (ok, I could put 100 "muches" here) more.

    Why Can't I Understand Holding Patterns.....@#$%!

I agree 100+%!! In our instrument training we waste hours and hours -- and even more brain cells -- on entries into the Hold. Once you have the rating, the entry matters exactly 0%... you just remain on the protected side of the hold (so nicely painted on our panel GPS and/or iPad) and within...

    Not Receiving ADS-B radar

Yes, they used to... and I prefer those trend vectors. As ForeFlight indicates in the release notes "This new source brings more reliability and stability, and we will be working to bring additional functionality in the coming months. Stay tuned for future updates" ... hopefully, the trend...

X-Plane12: Stock Baron 58 + REP vs Aerobask Diamond DA62

@GeorgiaPilot1021, not pertinent to your question on specific XP aircraft, but perhaps useful for your instrument training... I recently put together this Primer on IFR with X-Plane. DM me if you have questions or suggestions. bit.ly/wam-ifr-x-plane-primer Wayne

Plane in wires near KGAI (Montgomery County, MD)

Correct... oh, and he was also full-CDI-deflection to the left of the runway centerline. Re-created above in X-Plane 12.

THE MOST HIGHLY MODIFIED CESSNA IN THE WORLD

Just checked with my Frankencessna friend… C210 wings (field approval).

THE MOST HIGHLY MODIFIED CESSNA IN THE WORLD

I know he has oversized wings; perhaps from a 206 or strutted 210?

THE MOST HIGHLY MODIFIED CESSNA IN THE WORLD

In a similar style, I have a good friend also with a "slightly modified yet still certified" C172... started life as an early 60s C172, converted to a taildragger, wings swapped for C182 wings, and a Franklin 225hp engine. Climbs like crazy!

    New to G1000, help wanted

If you're using X-Plane there is a toga command... you just then connect that command to a key or button.

    KCMA to KGPI in July

^^ This ^^ Your only solid chance for smooth air is to land by noon, e.g.: -- Day 1: KCMA to KBOI, depart 6am, (probably a fuel stop en-route), arrive before noon -- Day 2 (or if, and only if, you're lucky, evening of Day 1): KBOI, depart 7am, arrive KGPI before noon (and of course, no...
