    Airventure 2020 cancelled

Our usual gang is tossing around the idea of flying up to OSH anyway. Instead of camping in the North 40, we will hotel it. At least that way, we can still help our fellow small business owners (who will be as devastated by this economic shutdown as we have been) to survive. Places we...

    Thinking about a rental property

I've owned commercial properties and rentals since 2002. The only immutable rule of thumb? Do not, not, NOT invest in condos as rentals. As it turns out, you own nothing when you buy a condo. Every condo owner in our area lost everything after Hurricane Harvey, because they were...

    Oshkosh 2020

We will be there, for #38 in a row, God willin' and the crik don't rise. By the way, we don't set up an "awning". It's a "chalet". ;)

B-17 Down at Bradley Int'l Airport

I would think that there would be many people on the ground taking video of a low flying B-17 with one engine smoking. Sent from my SM-T380 using Tapatalk

B-17 Down at Bradley Int'l Airport

Quite amazing that no video of this crash has surfaced as yet. It was probably witnessed by hundreds, and filmed by dozens. Sent from my SM-T380 using Tapatalk

Tesla Model 3 - Now I get the hype.

A Tesla is a second car for pretty much everyone. In my case, it is my primary vehicle -- I've driven it 147 out of the last 152 days -- but it is still a second vehicle due to my need for a pick up truck. For example, I'm going to be dragging a 1932 Chevy back from Louisiana on Thursday...

Tesla Model 3 - Now I get the hype.

No one buys an EV to save money. No one (in their right mind) buys an EV to save the world. You buy an EV because it is the best propulsion system available. I currently own and drive ten vehicles. The Model 3 is the best of them all, by a wide margin, in every measurable parameter except...

Long time in annual... is this normal?

Many of us got hosed on our first few annuals. You don't know what you don't know. You'll get through this. From now on, insist on doing "owner assisted annuals" -- even if they say it will cost MORE. You will learn everything about your airplane (it's really a very simple machine, compared...

    AOPA forums closing.....

My wife had the same issue. Luckily, it's easily resolved. You just have to learn how to use the "notifications" in Facebook. They tell you when there has been a reply in the thread. Click on the notification and you go straight to the pertinent thread. Easy peasy. Facebook is where...

    AOPA forums closing.....

With dozens of great aviation forums on Facebook, I'm frankly amazed that any of these stand-alone forums survive. After years of (first) Usenet, (then) AOPA, and (later) POA, I now visit half a dozen aviation pages on Facebook daily -- where I already am -- while I seldom check in here...

Tesla Model 3 - Now I get the hype.

Exactly right. My key card lives in my wallet. Mary's key card lives in her purse. Relying on a cellphone as your only means of entry to your car is daft. Sent from my SM-T380 using Tapatalk

Interested in how many have trouble falling asleep in hotels?

Yes, we have that, and it's in the Book that is in every hotel room. (You know, the one that shows all the TV channels, local restaurants, etc. The Book that no one reads.) The 5% don't read things like that. They just quietly suffer, and complain later. The basic rule of hospitality is...

Interested in how many have trouble falling asleep in hotels?

Speaking of sleep disruption in hotels, we have run into a problem (both in our hotel, and when we travel) with the government-mandated "Eco mode" on all new HVAC systems. This mode cycles everything off and on -- including the blower fan. There is nothing more disruptive to sleep than that...

Tesla Model 3 - Now I get the hype.

As opposed to an ICE vehicle, where you handle a fuel that is a known carcinogen, and breath exhaust emissions loaded with poison? lol I'm not understanding your question. Are you worried about magnetic fields? Being electrocuted? What health effects could there be?

Tesla Model 3 - Now I get the hype.

Theoretically, yes. But Tesla advises against it.

Generator. Same problem if the power is out for the gas stations.

Tesla Model 3 - Now I get the hype.

I've enjoyed trouble-free driving in my Model 3 since May 1st. Here are a few corrections to some misconceptions in this thread: 1. The center screen is weird for about 30 miles. Not bad, just weird. After that, it is totally normal. In fact, when I drive my truck now, I miss it. 2...

Dorian - Here we blow again....

Having just noted our 2 year anniversary of Hurricane Harvey here in Port Aransas, Texas, I am wishing y'all the best of luck. If it hits as predicted, you are in for a difficult time. :(

    This doesn't sound fun.

That's a whole lot of nope, there. 11 hours coming back from Europe is more than plenty.

Tesla Model 3 - Now I get the hype.

Sorry, I get painted with the Lefty brush down here in South Texas wherever I go in my Tesla, so I get a little testy about it. lol When I go on the Tesla groups, the greenies are appalled that I own and drive 9 ICE vehicles. lol Sent from my SM-T380 using Tapatalk
