    Our move to Texas

The only cowboy hat I ever had (family is in Dallas, I did 12 years Austin/Houston) was my white UT Longhorn Band cowboy hat.

    Our move to Texas

Don't forget to get a rifle rack for the back window of your pickup. Don't need to put a rifle or 2 in the rack, you just need the rack.

Mechanic in Annual Inspection Replaced ELT that hadn't expired and charged me for it

Expired ELT? What type of ELT do you have that requires the entire ELT to be replaced? I've got the ACR, which only requires the battery to be replaced every 2 years (or after 30 min of use). I think this is a phone call or in-person meeting with the A&P to ask why the entire ELT was replaced...

    Small TFR

Just making sure I understand the rules....Small TFR right next but not including KCFO (towered) I can request transponder code on the ground, get the code, leave for some amount of time (I'm thinking Pueblo for lunch) then return. I'm not allowed to do pattern work. True? Today is the first...

    Disqualifying TSA question(s)

Only the software people who designed/developed the IACRA/TSA/whatever software can legitimately answer the question of interoperability. And I'll bet my airplane that those were contractors that are no longer employed by any Federal agency. BTDT for FAA, USAF, NASA and others we don't discuss.

    Paradise Lost?

More and more I appreciate living in the timezone everyone ignores. Yes, we have snow storms. Even a tornado on occasion. Don't forget the forest fires and a flood or two. But they are few and far between (well, not the snow storms). My sympathies to all impacted by the hurricanes, and I...

    Lockheed Martin

LM on the Orion software at Waterton. Then over to ULA on both Atlas and Vulcan. When RTO was invoked in 2021, I left (as did my entire team and the manager) and I ended up as university faculty. Less than half the money, much more work but lots more fun.

Pilot threatened with arrest for helping NC victims of Hurricane Helene...excuse me?

Someone got a link to the interview? I can't watch it on POA, just comes up as a simple image.

Pilot threatened with arrest for helping NC victims of Hurricane Helene...excuse me?

An example where good intentions were not just disruptive but extreme hazards. Floods and fires are all too common in Colorado these days. The fires a few years ago brought out local looky-loos with their drones. Unfortunately, the moment a non-participating, non-authorized air device is in the...

First class medical with two DUI’s

Fred? What did Fred do, other than leave Texas because he knew a Dem Chicano would never get anywhere even with a law degree from UT and moved to Colorado and chose the absolute worst spot for the new airport, right in the middle of the Colorado tornado alley after his buddies kept jacking up...

    Altitude over I-70

33V very true....but only locals remember St Vrain, and it's not on any map these days.

    Altitude over I-70

Very true about the power lines - Steamboat to Rabbit Ears Pass to Kremmling (20V) then Rollins/Corona Pass and now you're back on this side of the Front Range. That's one of the Colorado Pilots Assoc Mtn Flying class routes.

    Altitude over I-70

If you're that far north, just head to the CO/WY state line. Much lower geography, more outs, much less time over terrain. Just because there's a pass identified on the map doesn't mean it's a good idea for flight. Do you have the CO Aeronautics map of recommended passes? Hm....looks...
